Durrants Hotel is a small (92 room) hotel just behind the Wallace Collection and 100yd from Marylebone High Street. Lovely facade at the quiet end of George Street.

All the public rooms are beautifully panelled and elegantly decorated. The rooms are very comfortable, if inevitably a bit small.

The staff are very friendly and attentive, although they may look a little intimidating at first glance. It's not every day that you see a head porter dressed in tails.

One tip: booking on line is probably best done by an email to the address on their website asking for their best rate.

Didn't eat in the restaurant, but there are numerous restaurants all around. It's also only a short walk to St Christopher's Place where there is a plethora of choices.

All in all a great place to stay and considering the location quite reasonable.

The location is great, but it's the personal attention which really makes Durrants stand out. The concierge and his assistants should be mentors to their colleagues around the world! My room was well appointed and quiet, and there was a bathtub as well as a shower. This is not an 'identikit' hotel, and that, along with its people, is a great part of its charm!

We stayed here on the 46th anniversary of our wedding reception at Durrants in 1967. Not much has changed since! An old fashioned hotel with a certain amount of charm (if you like gentlemens' clubs you will like this) and well situated. However as a 4 star West End hotel it is some way off the pace - rooms are small, no facility for making tea or coffee in the room, no buffet breakfast - all breakfast items are a la carte and separately priced including toast and coffee (expect to pay £25 plus for a decent breakfast); and last but not least, despite the high room rates they still wanted £10 for use of their wi-fi! Are there really any other hotels in 2013 still charging for wi-fi??

Room Tip: Ask about progress on refurbishment and be sure to get a room that has been upgraded and not adjacent to on-going building work

English stylish hotel in the center of London. Wonderful friendly personnel made our life easier in a simple way. True Engish design hotel with fantastic traditional furniture. The room lacked extra space but it was cosy. A bit overpriced but the location is great for exploring London.

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite that had recently been refurbished, and we were not disappointed. Lovely space with a super comfortable bed with quality sheets. The hotel is like a country hotel in the middle of town...It's creaky but we love that! Will definitely be back and would recommend.
