“Hazlitt's - what a treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2011

My partner and I just returned from four nights in Hazlitt's. We had a superior double and it was quite spacious and very comfortable for two, the decor is plush. As there are only 30 rooms in the hotel, the service is very personal. THe location is briliant, you are a five minute walk to Oxford Street for shopping. Trafalgar square and alot of theatres are within a 10 minute radius. Ronnie Scott's (legendary jazz club) is 100 metres from the hotel which was great because we tried to book tickets before our trip and it was booked out but we were able to get into the public bar where there was a brilliant jazz band playing.

I would highly recommend this hote for anyone looking for something a bit special/different.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel will be quieter. Superior double was very comfortable plenty space fo...

My husband treated myself and our 6 year old daughter to a night at this wonderful hotel.
It is small, giving a relaxed feel, with an understated charm. It comprises of only 30 rooms, ours was a reasonable size for a boutique hotel. It certainly felt a touch of luxury with quality bed linen and soft furnishings. Although not a large room, there was enough room to get a “Put you up bed” in for our daughter, ample hanging and draw space, mini bar, Flat screen TV, DVD player and IPOD docking station – home from home. The whole hotel was very, clean and warm.

The staff - from the guys on reception to the lovely lady who bought us breakfast in bed, they all greeted us with a smile and all clearly had a sense of pride in their roles.
There were several small lounges which you could relax in, but be aware there is no dining room, so breakfast is delivered to your room – personally I couldn’t believe my luck – breakfast in bed! But I know this is not to everyone’s liking. I thought breakfast was expensive - £11.95 for a posh bacon roll (which was very nice), £11.95 for a basket of Danish/croissants, rolls and an apple and then £2.95 for a bowl of cereal, drinks were included. Probably very comparable with other London hotels, maybe I am a bit out of touch, but while lovely, I felt it a little steep.
The location of the hotel is fantastic for shopping and the theatres in the West End. Situated in SOHO and in the same road as Ronnie Scotts. It sites between Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue. You are spoilt for choice for where to eat and drink. China Town is a 5 minute walk and places such as Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden were all aprox 10 minute walk – Perfect. Underground stations only 10 minutes walk. Despite the busy location, we found the hotel very quiet and never heard a thing.

Free Wi-fi available, which actually worked!

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing onto Frith Street - opt for a room at the back.

This is a nice, quiet and pleasant hotel where the rooms are fairly different, some without elevator access. Tried a few rooms and recommend to make sure that that you get with shower or bathtub whatever is desired. Oldfashioned style - the house itself is from the early 1700's. Friendly staff too. And the location is perfect for access to good or simple restaurants as well as the bookshops on Charing Cross Rd. two minutes away. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Make sure to specify shower or bathtub, and elevator access if needeed.

From time to time I stay in Hazlitt's for one or two nights and it has never disappointed. The location is excellent and the interior is very comfortable with just the right amount of weariness. It feels as if you are staying in someone's house with small and winding stairs and not very big rooms. The hotel is filled with antiques and in the rooms there are nice and quirky details, which give a lot of character to the atmosphere. Definitely recommended, although it doesn't come cheap.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper a room at the back is perhaps a good idea.

My husband and I decided to splurge on a night in London for our 8th Anniversary and stayed at Hazlitt's. For the occasion we upgraded to a Superior Double. The room was beautifully furnished with antiques and was in excellent condition. The bathroom was fantastic. We loved the shower with the rain head, the slate tiles, and the cool toilet with the pull chain flush. The hotel is charming, slanting floors, nicely furnished, and I loved the fresh lilies in the foyer. The location was within walking distance to the theatre performance we attended. However, our room rate after taxes was about $600 US. We have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC and a few Ritz Carlton's for about half the price and have had very good experiences with these chain type hotels. I went into the night expecting a better boutique hotel experience but was a little bit disappointed. For $600 you would expect breakfast to be included but it was not. Although you could order it for a fee. (If it was included, it was not explained to us) There was a basket in the room of overpriced snacks you could buy. The service at check-in was average. I was expecting more for the money and probably wouldn't splurge here again.

We have stayed there twice, and each time the staff was efficient and helpful. The hotel itself is one of the oldest buildings in that part of London, and the rooms, whilst quite small, as they are original, they are tasteful and interesting and very comfortable. Room service is excellent, and they have a sitting room/library for gathering downstairs which has an honour bar and a fire. Quite quiet, and personal. They also have gathering rooms for groups, although I have no knowledge of these. The hotel is in Soho, and quite near to the National Gallery, the theatre district, and to Regent Street. Excellent location

Room Tip: the back rooms are quietest, as they do not overlook any streets. The front rooms are not noisy, as...
