“Good location with reasonable rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2011

We stayed for the day, using it as a base while we visited and ate in the top floor restaurant of the nearby Tate Modern. We booked through www.between9and5.com/ paying £65.

The frontage of the hotel is quite narrow so look for the Mercure sign sticking out from the wall; in fact the Holiday Inn Express is better identified. The entrance is up a few steps and the small reception is to the right inside. It took a few moments to locate our reservation though I presented a printout and my A-Club card.

We were given room 202 on the second floor. This was a modest size, largely occupied by the bed. This was comfortable, with duvet. There were coffee making facilities, and iron and board - though we did not use either. The bathroom was also compact and it was a squeeze to get round the door to get into the bathroom. However all were clean and well equipped.

We were satisfied with the price paid for what we received, and would use again for the hotel's location

Loads of things to explore on the south bank which are near this hotel. Rooms good. Free wi-fi in the reception area, but not in the rooms - we still need to catch up with our continental neighbours!
Great selection for breakfast, but as previuosly commented it is rather pricey. There are lots of nearby alternatives though.

We choose this hotel as it was on the jubilee line for O2 and this was also on the northern line for kings cross. We found the 5 minute walk form the London bridge station no problem

The staff were very pleasant and always had a smile and a hello. The breakfast was very good with a nice hot and cold selection.

Next time we are in London we would book this again without thought

Very friendly welcome. Not so easy to get to on public transport. I came in to Kings Cross and got the 63 bus to Southwark St but I know London quite well. Room was fine. Restaurant was quiet, food good, lacked atmosphere. Expensive breakfast but some good restaurants round about for breakfast.

This hotel is one of the best we have stayed at in London. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed and pillows were the most comfortable we have ever had, had an excellent nights sleep. The staff in all areas were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was an excellent choice. It is a lovely area of London plenty of bars and restaurants along the River Thames. We would definately stay there again and would recommend it to anyone else.

This is a great place to stay a lone female traveller - feels very safe and staff are very helpful. Reasonable rates for London and location good for South Bank area. Bit of a trek from underground if travelling with lots of luggage but cabs v easily accessible on Southwark Road.
