“good standard Hotel, not close to a tube line”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

we stopped here for a long weekend, the location is not far from the Thames south bank, but its not close to London Bridge.
the check in staff were very friendly and helpfull. we arrived before theb check in time and they arranged for our luggage to taken to the room so we could get out and enjoy our time in London.
we did not biother with the expensive breakfast option and opted for something at a cafe up the road, however there are a coupel of chain coffe shops across the road from the hotel.
Would i stay there again, probabaly not as the tube stations are a bit of a hike, however there is a "boris bike" rank across the road for the energetic

When booking was told could have high floor room with views over London this did not exist and told tube five minutes away it was at least a 15 minute walk if not 20 in bank streets. Rv1 bus stop outside hotel was much quicker.

Food excellent could not fault that.

King size beds were two singles pushed together and bedding didn't fit.

Check room over in day time as there's no housekeeping or maintenance evenings or weekend evenings.

Dear Macleask,
Thank you very much for your comments.
Being located 450 yards from Southwark tube station and 660 yards from London bridge tube Station, we are a bit surprised about your general comments on the hotel location.
Also please be informed that both our housekeeping and maintenance department are available until 19.30 everyday, apart from sundays.
Looking forward to welcoming you in the near future at Mercure London Bridge Hotel.
Kind regards

Was only there overnight - fantastic bed, very comfy. Breakfast was OK, but odd that they specifically asked if I wanted toast and then brought it to me nearly cold! Otherwise staff were efficient and friendly.

Stayed for 1 night during the London Open House weekend. Booked it for its convenient location close to several tube stations and to family, who were staying nearby. Arrived early (just after 9am), didn't expect to be able to check in but were told a room was ready and we'd been upgraded - which was a lovely surprise. The receptionist was friendly and greeted us with a smile (both at check-in and check-out). The room was large and clean (with a super-kingsize bed), loved the "Nespresso" machine! Would stay again, as it's particularly convenient for Borough Market and within walking distance of London Bridge and the City.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this one - it was great from a location perspective. Close to where we had meetings and also excellent for dinner and entertainment. The Underground is a quick five minute walk. The rooms are average sized. King bed was OK - not great. It's definitely better asking for a room that faces the back so you get less street noise. Breakfast was good. The less positive side - the shower leaked (it's a design issue, not broken) so the floor ended up wet, as in puddle of water type wet. Not ideal. Aslo, the toilet felt like it was going to break off the wall, it didn't feel secured properly. I had a room near the elavator - the elavator bank and stairs are behind a firedoor. Unfortunately, that door slams really hard and makes a lot of noise. I'm sure it's safer that way, but it's not pleasant when you're trying to sleep. If they update the bathrooms (the desk assured me that this was in the works) and you have a room away from the elavators/stairs, and you're on the back of the hotel - this is an adequate place. Staff were nice, friendly.

Room Tip: Room on the back, well away from elavators/stairs

Booked this hotel for a 5 day business stay from Australia starting 8th September as its close to the office and it looked quite nice on the internet. What a shock, what a tired dump-arrived early and had pre arranged early check in, Bazil Faulty on the desk didnt have a record of this but they found a room-I reckon the worst in the place. Took my bags up, dirty, dusty, sad old bathroom, grubby old couch. I went straight back to reception and handed back the key and moved to another hotel-much nicer and about the same price. As a parting gesture they charged me for one night then sent an email thanking me for staying and please come back soon-not in my lifetime. My company has this place as a preferred hotel in London, I will be strongly recommending they get rid of it

I’m sorry we failed to live up to your expectations, especially knowing you only gave us ten minutes of your time. The way you are treating our team member is "shocking", using your own word.
Certainly doesn't seems to be matching other guests feedback.
