Clean well managed and helpful staff. Bedroom adequate for length of stay. Make sure you order prior to visit breakfast and as not shown on booking!

Tubes are only a few minutes walk away together with Borough Market which has some brilliant food stalls. Restaurants and bars too are close by to the hotel. Obtaining local taxis not a problem as drive by hotel regularly.

The renovated hotel is just behind the Tate Modern art gallery, on the Southbank of the Thames. It faces a fairly busy road, but look beyond that to The Globe Theatre, The Shard, the markets, and Southwark Cathedral. Its on a popular bus route (RV1) which also takes you to Tower Bridge and The Tower of London in one direction, and to the National Theatre, Festival Hall, Waterloo and across to Covent Garden in the other. If you get the right exit from London Bridge tube, that is handy, or alternatively Southwark tube isn't too far away.

The lobby has sweets galore, cookies and fruit - and a relaxed modern vibe. Staff were efficient.

The rooms vary in size - for the latest visit I booked two rooms - and both were good - one had a bath, the other a modern shower. All were spotless, and the carpet still smells new!

I have stayed at this hotel a few times while in London due to it being close to the Tate Modern and Borough Markets - as well as a few key tube and train stations. During this stay I was pleasantly surprised by recent renovations that have greatly improved the foyer area and freshened up the rooms.

Often arriving early after long travel, the staff have always try to accommodate my early check in needs. The rooms vary in size, and on this stay had one of the smaller rooms, although still comfortable, clean and with everything you need. This part of London, while quite central, is very quiet at night and there are no noise issues.

Wifi, towels, shower pressure, linen, bed, air conditioning and TV options were all good. You can open windows and open and shut two blinds which give you control of you light and fresh air.

You can walk to London Bridge, the London Eye or even Trafalgar Square fairly easily from this spot. The weekend food market behind the National Theatre is a hidden gem.

Stayed here for a weekend for my birthday treat.
First of all, don't be fooled by the "nearest tube" description on the web site as we found that Southward Underground station is by far the nearest. Also Blackfriars. Made the mistake of buying train tickets to London Bridge station as we thought that would be the nearest, then found that Blackfriars Station is only just up the road. About 25 minutes from London Bridge or Waterloo, but only about 10 minutes from Southwark or Blackfriars.
Now for the hotel. It's very modern, having just been refurbished. The reception doesn't look like a reception at all, more like a front room. The reception staff were very helpful and we were quickly checked in. The room was modern and overlooked the Southwark Road, but being on the 6th floor we weren't bothered by noise at all even though we like to have the window open. Southark road is very busy during the week, but very quiet at weekends.
The room wasn't very big, with the bedroom itself being only just wide enough to fit in the bed (lovely and comfy) with a bedside shelf either side, but didn't need a huge room as we spent so little time in there.
The large screen TV is fixed to the wall above the desk/dressing table and it was very odd that there was no mirror above the desk and had to resort to standing up using the full length mirror next to the bathroom door to dry my hair and apply make up.
There was a (unstocked) mini fridge in the room as well as tea and coffee making facilities. There were plenty of plug sockets.
The shower room was very modern, no bath, but a lovely walk in shower with a rain forest shower head as well as a hand held lower shower.
The only meals we had were snacks in the bar which were delicious and large portions.
It was an easy walk from the hotel to Blackfriars Bridge from where where we walked along The South Bank (lots going on) to Westminster so easy access to the centre of London if you want a nice walk, or you can use the aforementioned underground stations.
Checkout was quick and easy and they have a luggage room so you can leave your bags on your last day to enjoy all that London has to offer before setting off home.
Realy enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to re-book. Will definitely be going back.

From the moment you arrive at the Hotel you are made welcome by the Reception staff and the informal reception area which is made up by an accessible table with tablet computers that are used to book you in. Help yourself to fresh cookies or a piece of fruit while the check-in process is completed. Unfortunately, Parking spaces are extremely limited and needs to be booked in advance (not mentioned on their website) but if you are visiting at the weekend, on the road parking spaces are free and the single yellow line is not enforced at the rear of the hotel (Lavington Street).

Our room was based on the top floor and although very small, it was adequately furnished and the Bed was extremely comfortable. The Bathroom was another matter and definitely only big enough for a single person.

What made this Hotel special for us was its position at the back of the Tate Modern Gallery. Walks along the South Bank of the Thames are recommended with so many things going on and so many Bars and Restaurants to visit.

One more downside was how hot the room gets at night, with no Air Conditioning the only cooling comes from a small blower unit that was stored in the corner.

Room problems aside, we liked this Hotel and would certainly return (definitely in Winter).
