We stayed here in late October with a group. Rooms were clean, extremely cramped (I'm surprised they were not in violation of some sort of fire code) and outdated. The beds were comfortable and room service was prompt each day. Washrooms were just like the rooms, outdated and clean.
The carpeted halls outside the rooms were irregular and slippery if wearing something other than runners. The elevator was likely installed before the 20th century and has seen better days. Saving time and taking the stairs instead are a great idea if you can navigate the irregular steps and corridors.
Breakfast was a highlight of the hotel. The porridge was available before 8:30, and was delicious (hence the title of this review). Bottomless toast and tea were provided while waiting for the english breakfast of eggs, bacon, beans and tomato or mushrooms. The breakfast staff were friendly and accommodating.
The front staff fluctuated between helpful, kind, miserable and odd.
The location was decent as it was within walking distance of Paddington Station and Metro. Hyde Park and several pubs were also within walking distance.More
