Prince William Hotel
Ranked #876 of 1,081 Hotels in London
Reviewed 23 January 2010

We were a bit apprehensive about our stay at Prince William after reading the other reviews however, our stay was a pleasant surprise.
-If you arrive early, be prepared to wait until 3pm to check-in. They make no exceptions. There is luggage storage facilities.
-Rooms small but cleanish except old blood stain on my linens.
-Bathrooms are nice and clean. Our shaving/make-up mirror was non-functioning maintenance replaced it, but i still didn't work.
-Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room
-Breakfast consisted of toast (wheat and white bread), cheese, juice (apple and orange) and tea and coffee
-South Asian restaurant takes over the breakfast area in the evenings. The food was pretty good and was reasonably priced.
-Limited TV channels. The sound would go in and out.
- The staff was efficient with no flexibility to the rules.
-The lift is old and bucks when it stops. Try not get a room near the lift.
-The location is great and for that reason I would go back. It is close to Paddington tube and train station and many bus stops that lead to all the main sites of London.
-In walking distance to Kensington/Hyde Park.
-We felt safe there as 2 female travelers.

We chose this hotel for its location, its price and because the photos appeared acceptable. We booked and paid online, but when we arrived they managed to wrench an extra 20 pounds a night out of us due to a technical error when filling in the online forms. The owners refused to speak with us directly about this (and this is the part that was really unforgivable) choosing instead to 'send instructions' via the poor, beleaguered receptionists. On the final night the receptionists were instructed to call the police if we didn't pay the extra money, which we had been withholding until someone from management was prepared to stop hiding behind the receptionists and talk to us directly. In addition to this, as others have said, the rooms are tiny, the blankets (forget about duvets!) are old and stained and you are left with the impression of an operation that is trying to extract the maximum amount if profit out of the minimum amount of investment. The whole experience left a very bad taste in the mouth.

Was nervous after reading some of the reviews.Rooms bit small, but bathroom was good, location the best, staff average, clean but decor below par.By London standards for a person that spends most of the day outside ,this is good value for money.

Very nice 2* hotel, clean, kind staff, very very good location at 3-5 minutes from Paddington station and tube, in Central London. I recommend it for those who want to visit London due to its location. Also is very close of Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park. Maybe the rooms are too tiny but it is not a spa hotel. I highly appreciated the hotel staff.

Advantages: Good public transport and cheap restaurants nearby, ready and kind staff, fairly clean, reasonable prize.
Disadvantages: Ragged furniture and carpets, thin walls (you can hear your neighbour snoring), small rooms, only 6 TV channels (2 of them the same).

It's cheap for sure, but I'll never make the mistake of booking this hotel again. Small room, very uncomfortable beds, TV didn't work, almost non-existent breakfast. I had booked for 3 nights, but changed hotels after 2. Location near the Paddington station was good, but there are far better hotels to choose from around the same area.
