“Perfect position when you are staying in London”
Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

We stayed at the Grange and loved it for its perfect position to everything that we want to be near during our stay in London. It was just right for us near everything we wanted. Close to a village for breakfast and a quick coffee, close to Gloucester tube station and Kensington Gardens for a relaxing walk. We both loved our time and the friendly staff made our stay just very enjoyable. A friend of ours recently stayed because of our recommendation and she also loved it because of that we have said about it.

I was in London for four days in March on vacation and the Grange Strathmore was a great choice. The best part of the hotel was its location - close to Gloucester Road tube station, which mean only a 25 minute ride on the tube to and from Heathrow. There is also a good grocery store nearby as well as pharmacies and restaurants all within walking distance. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are on the small side compared to North American hotels but were comfortable with firm beds and all the necessary amenities. The only two things that I would change would be that you have to pay for internet, 5 pounds/hr or 10 pounds/day and the continental breakfast, which was adequate but nothing special. Overall, a solid choice for a reasonable price, and I would definitely stay here again the next time that I'm in London.

Room Tip: The hotel has five floors and one small elevator. If you are a bit claustrophobic, perhaps ask for...

What a lovely, clean friendly hotel will defiantly stay again. We stayed here to watch the bodyguard at the Adelphi theater, The staff here are most friendly and helpful. The hotel it's self is wonderful.

I have to visit London once or twice a week for work and discovered the Grange Strathmore as an incredibly friendly, convenient, clean, well appointed hotel. Situated close to Gloucester Road tube, it's ideal to travel easily to all Central London locations. Lots of nice places to eat nearby and some other convenient shops if needed. The staff are always extremely pleasant and professional. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Having stayed in lots of different rooms there, they are all well appointed, a few are a little small but there are some lovely rooms. It's ideal for business travellers but I would happily take my family here too.

The hotel was in a beautiful area of London. The communal areas of the hotel were very grand and very well presented. The bedroom was very small but had everything you need (except plump pillows!) and the bathroom was tiny but again- all facilities were there.
The main issue was that the stunning and huge sash windows throughout the hotel were not sealed/wedged and consequently they rattled all night throughout the building offering a rather noisy nights sleep! I have previously stayed in buildings of a similar age that either have padding on the windows or offer wooden wedges on the sill.
After a bad nights sleep the morning staff at Breakfast were rude and dismissive which was rather upsetting as the Reception and Concierge teams had been lovely during our one night stay.

This is my 2nd time to London and I must say Grange Strathmore is way above the other hotel I previously stayed. The check-in staff is friendly and efficient, and the concierge is always helpful. My room on the third floor isn't big, as expected for the price and location, but it is more than enough to provide me a sound sleep. They provide generous supply of coffee and tea, and decent toiletries. The only downside is the extremely small shower stall.
On the other amenities, internet connection is excellent, though my colleague at basement level did complain about the speed down under. Breakfast is good, with fresh toast coffee and tea prepared upon ordering. The spreads are delighting too.
In conclusion, I will definitely choose Grange Strathmore for my next visit.

Lovely hotel steeped in history! Check-in can sometimes be slow and the only lift is often unreliable. The breakfast menu is extensive but I would prefer this buffet style. I don't understand why you have to sign a form at breakfast when you have already had it confirmed at check in that breakfast is included. Good range of complimentary extras.
