We stayed at the Grange Strathmore for 3 nights. The service was incredibly friendly and cordial and the location was amazing (easy subway access, a few blocks to museums and shopping). Other than that, the value wasn't spectacular - rooms were tight, breakfast was overpriced ($30 each) and pretty limited, and of course internet was a pricey extra. Definitely not bad but not amazing - not sure if I would stay there again.

We arrived before our room was ready, the staff took our luggage so we could go out and to our suprise they rang us to say our room was ready. The room was clean and a nice size, the bed was very comfortable and we sleept well. Breakfast was lovely we had full english and we never had to ask for toast or a coffee refill. We found the hotel to be in a great location lots of cafe's and places to eat also within walking distance of the tube and the the Royal Albert Hall. We are coming back to stay again in August. Nice staff, very clean, fantastic location what more can you ask.

My colleague and I were booked in the Grange Strathmore for 3 nights as we had to work in London. When we arrived we were told that our room was a double, not a twin. We objected as although we are friends (as we work together) we didn't want to share a bed! They said that there was a hen night on and that they had no spare rooms so we would have to share the room or find somewhere else. We didn't want to spend ages trying to find another hotel so took the double room on the promise that we would be 'upgraded' to a twin the next day. The manager then told us we had to go down to our room - so we were helped with our luggage to the basement. when we got to our room (room 007) it was the tiniest hotel room I have ever been in. There was a smaller than normal double bed and it was boiling hot in there (it was a hot weekend). There was NO AIR CONDITIONING and the only window opened out to under the fire escape!!!!! There wasn't very much point in opening the window. The shower was tiny and there was no extractor fan to remove the hot air! We complained immediately - it was so hot and we had to share a bed - there was no air coming through the room but they again said that there were no spare rooms.
After a really uncomfortable night (it was so hot and we had to sleep with clothes on as we were sharing a bed. I had a shower and felt like I was going to pass out as it was so hot. We had to prop the door open so we could dry our hair without being ridiculously hot!
We went up for breakfast and no-one came to ask us what we wanted.

In fairness they did move us to a twin room and gave us free breakfasts after we complained a lot. However the bathroom in the new room didn't have an extractor fan either which made it unbearably hot to be in when having a shower.

The majority of the staff were nice but a lot of the time we felt the managers just fobbed us off with excuses. They also said we had to pay for the internet until I complained to the manager.

They shouldn't be allowed to rent out room 007 - it was appalling.

Our double room was big with a tiny adequate en-suite. The bed was huge and the most comfortable I have slept in. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It had a really 'homey' atmosphere.
Décor is slightly jaded like that of a grand house; a bit gone to seed, but we liked that.
Dinner was not good. Very unimaginative although served very professionally so we only ate there once. There are however several nearby eating places 5 mins walk away.
The hotel is in a quiet elegant Georgian side street round the corner from shops and tube station, and taxis. Excellent value...cheaper than a travel lodge..booked through 'last Minute.com'.
Will definitely use again.

Stayed with my daughter, visiting relatives in London, last weekend, we booked thro last minute.com and had an excellent deal. it worked out at £42 a night each over three nights. The room was small but perfectly formed with en-suite bathroom, large tv, plenty of tea and coffee with a kettle. The beds were very comfortable and the room quiet. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes from Gloucester tube station, one road back from the main throughfare of Kensington. We were about 15 minutes walk from Kensington Palace - where we had a lovely picnic in the park - Waitrose is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. I an thoroughly recommend this hotel, it was comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful, the sitting room and bar for guests was spacious and the bar food menu was very reasonably priced.
