“Great Hotel-Well Located”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2010

Ignore the negative comments. We stayed here for one week and really liked the hotel. It is Located near the Picadilly Line on the tube which was great. The staff was wonderful at the desk and in the dining room. We will stay here again

The Marriott Kensington Hotel had lots of pros for me. First the location is great, right in the middle of two Tube (Metro) stops: Earl's Court and Gloucester Rd. Also, lots of places to eat around, specially near Earl's Court. London is a walking city, so bring your confortable shoes. This hotel is down the street, or one Tube stop away from the Science Museum, Natural History museum, and the Victorian and Albert museum (all free of charge by the way). The lobby is very fancy and breakfast at the executive lounge is good. The service is one of the best in London. The only problem that I had is with the size of the rooms, a bit smaller compared to hotels in the US. But hey, I didn't come to London to stay in a hotel room anyways. May I suggest booking dinner at an Asian restaurant called Inamo, it's out of this world!!!

The Hotel is on nice spot near underground Leicester (5 minut)
Small rooms you can hear neighbors . Not a real Marriott like I am used.
Breakfast is good !

I recently decided to stay more often at the Marriot hotel chain after my one night stay at the Marriot Dead Sea, which was just fantastic, and collect some more reward points. Unfortunately, the standard and value for money varies enormously from country to city. We were very kindly upgraded at the Marriot in Kensington by the reception staff, who, by the way were all lovely. The room was very spacious with a lovely big bed, but the whole hotel needs a bit of freshening up. We stayed for 2 nights @ 135 GBP per night, however the total bill was nearly 500GBP. Part of the bill was a 75 pound phone call to my husband in the UAE to tell him to add my credit to my phone @ 6 pounds per minute. I didn't see the phone price list which was written on a small disc dangling from the phone cord, somewhere near to the floor. Didn't see it. I also called my friend's cell phone who was in Kent... 31 pounds. I was charged 3 pounds for room service... to bring the food to the room! Tray charge it was called. Now that was pretty poor form. I had a netbook but the wifi was not free; 6GBP per hour. We did have some drinks and very ordinary sandwiches. The 'executive' free breakfast was served down in a windowless room on tiny round tables which were only large enough to accommodate bread plate sized serving plates. Small plates with equally small cutlery; cake forks and butter knives- very difficult to eat with. The food was very basic with very little choice. In comparison to the Dead Sea Marriot, where the breakfast was a veritible feast, this was quite a sad offering. When we returned to London a week later, we elected to stay at the Montague Gardens Hotel, whose rooms were absolutely tiny in comparison but there were no nasty surprises, just a lot of old fashioned service. I might have lost a few reward points for avoiding the Marriot but i just could not go there again.

This hotel was great! It had beautiful grounds and was in a strategics place. There were shops and cafes/bistros all over and lots of things to do in its vicinity.

I stayed, last week, for seven nights, in this hotel. It is very well localized in a wonderful residential area and only three blocks from a tube station (Gloucester Road). The hotel is tidy and clean. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are not as big as it is expected for a hotel of an American chain. But, it is important to be noticed that in London the rooms of the hotels are usually very small. Although small, one will find everything that is needed in the room, included coffee/tea facilities. Opposite to the hotel there is a supermarket, with a Chemist’s and a Starbucks (opened until midnight). The main disadvantage in this hotel is the price charged for phone calls. It is completely insane the cost of almost 2 quid (to be totally precise £ 1,75) per minute for a call to a free number (0800). Summing up, I recommend staying in this hotel.
