Highly recommended for all lovers of history . There is so much to see - you will not be disappointed. The War Rooms give you a fascinating insight into this part of history which has been preserved pretty much as it was at the end of the 2nd World War. Brilliant succinct audio tour comes with your ticket fee. The Churchill Museum is part of the War Rooms Tour and again so much to see and experience. Huge amount of material about Churchill from a child to his death - what a life! There is a large 15 metre long interactive "Lifeline" which is well worth exploring. Allow yourself a good 2 -3 hours. We spent over 4 hours there. Switch Cafe is very good and reasonably priced. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Good to see so many young people there too.

This was something we've wanted to experience for a long time and we're not disappointed, we were lucky with only having to queue for a few minutes, the audio guide is excellent and very user friendly giving you the option to wander round at your own pace. It's an incredible insight to how the war effort was run, with interesting tales about Churchill's staff about the great man himself. This has to be an essential visit for any tour of London, when we came out the queue was much longer so I would recommend early or later during the day to avoid the peak times. It also has cafe facilities.

During the Blitz, the Nazi bombing runs barely missed Winston Churchill on several occasions, so with reluctance he directed his staff to find a "safe" underground location where his staff could plan and execute the British Empire's war plan. This site, basically unchanged and preserved since the end of World War II, takes you into Churchill's world and provides a great deal of insight into what things were like during those dark days. Your admission includes a self-guiding audio tour that provides a great deal of information about the purpose of each of the rooms in the subterranean (just) location. You can do it justice in a couple of hours, and there is a cafe if you need to take a break in the middle of the tour.

I'm so glad to have the War Rooms and the underground museum. They are a highlight of any London holiday if you are interested in history. Love him or hate him, Winston Churchill made some pretty significant decisions in these rooms. The timeline and story book that has been created, which forms the war museum is fantastic. It's a self paced tour. There is no rush, and you work your way through the tour with an audio device. Excellent value for money. I booked through Get Your Guide, then took my printed voucher underground and exchanged it for a ticket.

We had purchased the London Pass and saw that the Churchill War Rooms was something we could see with our passes. And, we were in the area seeing other sites, so after reading good reviews on TA, we added it to our itinerary. We are so glad we did! The museum does not look like much on the outside, but that is because you head underground! There was no queue when we arrived and the audio guide provided is excellent. I would not try and see these exhibits without it! There were other people going through at the same time as us, but it was not overly crowded and it took us about two hours to go through the entire area. It was like stepping back in time - quite erie and very educational without being dry. Our party of three, two adults and 18-year old daughter, all enjoyed it very much.

And, I would highly recommend the Switchroom Cafe for lunch or snack. We had a late lunch there and were luck to get a table. It's a small place where you order at the counter and they will deliver it to your table. The menu is small and there are a couple of specials each day. We had stew, sausage and mash, and mac n cheese. All three were excellent and very well priced. We had not planned on eating here, but it was a pleasant surprise!
