You can only per-book tickets 24 hours in advance and you should. We waited 2+ hours is a line that was pretty short because they can only let a certain number of people in at a time. They let the pet-booked ticked holders in every half hour or so at a rate of 3:1 with people who want to get tickets that day. The per-booked line would continuously get longer than ours and disappear repeatedly while we sat still. We gave up after 2 hours because it would have been another hour at least just to get in. We went early too and we went on a weekday. Spare yourself the misery and buy tickets in advance. Still have it five stars based on what the billions of people leaving said as they went out.

A busy day of sightseeing concluded with a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, and it was the perfect way to finish the day! The sheer volume of mementos, artifacts and supporting documentation, all housed in what were the actual WW II below-ground facilities was impressive. For those with an interest in, yet with limited knowledge of Churchill's history and/or the British war effort, I encourage you to fit this into your schedule while in London!

If you are a fan of Winston Churchill - or feel antagonistically towards him for his many flaws - this is a must-see attraction in London. Located very close to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, this exhibit shows Churchill's whole life but especially focusing on his leadership during WW2.

The exhibit is actually located in the actual war-rooms used by Churchill and his cabinet to run the war from his underground bunker.

Be warned however, there is a separate line for priority visits which the various London Pass type tourist cards do not qualify for - so the wait to get in can be long (approx 1-2 hrs). For priority visits, you have to book and pay them directly.

Both my husband and I were born shortly after WWII. Both our fathers served in the American military during the war. We have a deep respect for all of those who paid the price to defeat Hiter's Germany. We both have a deep interest in history and this proved to be the perfect way to deepen the understanding of England's strength, determination and grit. After seeing The Darkest Hour recently, it was fascinating to see where those events in history actually took place. I am humbled by all of those who stood up to such tyranny. I highly recommend going. Also, we had some issues with our tickets, and they were so kind in assisting us. I really appreciated it.
