“Good for business”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Overall, this hotel is very clean and we have no problem putting senior business executives in here. That said, the air conditioning noise is something else and far too noisy to sleep through. The fitness centre is far too small/basic for the hotel size. A very nice sky bar with panoramic views of London though.

Stayed for two nights 5/7/14, and found it very pleasant and modern
Staff very attentive, helpful and friendly,
Breakfast not included in our room rate, you can purchase a voucher for a discount in price
Room very clean and fresh, big comfy bed but soft pillows
Can't really fault it for Central London and very close to the Tower of London and the Shard

It's always a pleasure to visit here. Friendly staff and great food the sky bar is definitely worth a visit with its Great atmosphere albeit a little expensive but no more than most London hotels. Going back soon as it's now our regular London home.

Dear 'RichG63'

Thank you so much for your great comments, it's always a pleasure to have you back as our guest!

We very much look forward to your next stay (thank you for the amazing support). I would love to say hello to you in person if you see an opportunity during your stay? If you stop by our Guest Services desk, they can call me and I will meet you in the lobby? Of course if time is tight please don‘t feel obliged.

Have a fantastic visit and thank you again,
Amy

It started off so well - dealing with reservations by email was extremely easy, contacts were pleasant and helpful. Bookings were made for two club rooms [one twin one king] as we were travelling with our daughters. Price was fair and we were looking forward to our stay. My husband and younger daughter arrived in London early in the day and checked in. My other daughter and I arrived after midnight to be greeted by the most surly, unhelpful, rudest reception person who clearly is in the wrong profession. After a comedy of errors [his] - room keys were sorted out [after 2 am] and we thought we could settle down for the night. Air conditioning wasn't working and it took over 24 hours to get that sorted and rooms moved. Despite these obstacles the rooms are well set up, clean and when the air conditioning is working - very comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful, polite and capable despite being hammered by the large number of people coming in to breakfast. Other individuals who staffed the front desk and the concierge area were dismissive, aloof and very unhelpful.

I do have to praise Giota Tychalaki [the Guest Relations manager] and Matthew Caldwell - both of whom tried so very hard to rectify problems and appeared to be the only front of house staff who cared about the customers. After dealing with these two lovely people we felt much better about our stay. Therefore I am not sure if I recommend or don't recommend this hotel. It was very good value for a London hotel and the club lounge was very comfortable and nice place to sit for a quick drink rather than be in the hotel room. The Sky Roof lounge was also a pleasant place to sit for a cocktail and a fabulous view of London. It is well situated close to a Tube station and quite a safe place to walk around at night. Very quiet over the weekend as it is in the financial district.

Room Tip: Worth investing in Club rooms. Ask for rooms away from the elevator.

Dear 'SueFischer'

Thank you for going into detail, about certain aspects of your stay that had impressed and other areas where you had felt the levels of service received could have been improved. We sincerely apologise for if any of our staff had displayed this attitude, and if ever something of this nature is brought to our attention we would take this extremely seriously.

Matt in our Guest relations team had informed me we were able to offer a 30% and 50% reduction off of your guest room rates respectively, in addition to drinks vouchers and a refund of your room service charges, which I hope has shown we were keen to ensure your concerns could be resolved in the appropriate manner.

Of course if there is anything further you wish to discuss please contact me anytime.

With kind regards
Amy

Nice room, clean, upscale but lacking simple amenities such as a clock in the room. The TV acts as a computer so I guess if you didn't bring a PC with you, this would be cool but ultimately it's a small TV with a remote that does not enable you to turn it on/off or set a timer. Hotel is overpriced.

Very comfortable room, welcoming staff and good concierge staff, good restaurants, attractive lobby space, and GREAT rooftop bar with wonderful views. This hotel is near the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral and next door to a convenient tube stop. It's near a business district with good restaurants; however, be aware that many of these places close on weekends. Don't miss All Hallows cathedral which is steps away. The hotel is on the tube line for Wimbledon, South Kensington (Victoria & Albert Museum and Kensington Palace) and Kew Gardens, which are great experiences. It's easy to change lines to get to other major attractions. The neighborhood feels really safe and comfortable and we were very happy coming "home" to the Doubletree.
