“Nice sized room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

Very nice sized room, we stayed in an executive room which had a great view. Staff very professional and polite, breakfast was great. Only thing decor was tired and dated and parts of the hotel and our room were looking tatty I did not pay full price for our room but if I has this would have been cause for disappointment.

Stayed 4th and 5th July. We booked the hotel first before we read other trip advisor experiences so we were a bit nervous. When we booked we were office to upgrade the room which we did. We we're put in room 1005. Was a nice big room with a great view. Decor and carpet a bit dated BUT the room was clean and tidy. Have no complaints on the room or the service for the money we paid. We were looking at nearly double the amount to stay somewhere else in London. 5 min walk to DLR. And paid £25 for a cab back from west end at 1am. Breakfast was busy so the earlier you make it the better. Parking a bit expensive at £21 for 24hrs and had some building works going on the other side of the docks which woke me up. That's all I found to grumble about.

Room Tip: Upgrade, and stay on level 11 or 12

I don't usually stay this far out of Central London when visiting but when I saw a deal at £99 for 2, dinner, bed and breakfast plus a free bottle of house wine I thought I'd give it a go. It was only a short walk from Canary Wharf tube station but not easy to find as the whole area is a glass and concrete jungle with few signs.
The hotel itself was good, the room no better or worse than an average room. The dinner deal was 2 courses at either the pizza restaurant or the Indian. We went for the pizza, 2 course were ok, can't complain for the price but nothing special. Same can be said about breakfast. The pool and sauna area was nice after a long day seeing the sights.
If you're wanting to be in this part of town and get a good deal then it's fine but at £7 for an adult and child tube ticket travel costs could add up. I'd go back if I was going to the O2 and nowhere else in London. Really a rating of 3 but with an added one for value on a special deal. At full price no way.

I had a weekend in London with my husband. It was last minute plan and concerned about this hotel because there were not many happy reviews. BUT...it is a convenient location with Jubilee line by 10 minutes walk or DLR, very quiet neighbourhood, Waitrose & Tesco nearby if you desire, yes, it is an old-ish hotel with dark wood furniture, our (double bed) room was on the 8th floor with a good water front view; a good sized room for budget travellers like us, with working air conditioner, shower & bath (!), an iron & ironing board, trouser press and tea/coffee facility, good storage etc - could not ask more!

We recommend having cocktails in the lounge - reasonably priced with good selection (cosmopolitan & Britannia Magic are delish!!). Also, there is a curry restaurant which is again reasonably priced so if you are too tired to go out and searching for somewhere to eat, why not try there! If we were staying longer I would have tried the spa facility. Breakfast is also good and offers choices (except grilled sausage was cheap quality).

We would use it again (^_^)

Room Tip: There is DLR train so lower floor may be affected by its noise. We actually paid a little extra for...

Online booking through hotels.com failed - website issue so arrived at hotel to be told I had two bookings for same night same room made two minutes apart - an obvious issue. Hotel did not want to know about it and hotels.com just fobbed me off with "Of course we will get back to you" that was two weeks ago ! Any advice to go to consumer affairs in UK - they simply would not get away with it in Australia!

Room Tip: Careful with hotels.com

I bought a 2night deal from Groupon which included breakfast, 1 evening meal and a bottle of wine. This was brilliant value, however I am certainly glad I did not pay the full advertised price.
Our room was comfortable, but very warm. There was an air con control on the wall but it didn't seem to cool down the room. A lovely big whirlpool bath certainly made a good impression. Some aspects of the room and hotel were a bit uncared for. A knob on the dresser was lost, the plugs in the sinks are missing, in the lobby the lift lights on some floors were missing too.
Breakfast was OK, a good selection of cooked items and a smaller range of continental items. Although most of the food seemed to be of cheaper quality. Evening meal in the pizza restaurant was again, OK. We chose to eat elsewhere on our 2nd night.
The hotel was a 2 minute walk from a tube station which was perfect for us.

Reception area and lounge/bar are bright and spacious. Reception staff are polite and welcoming, we arrived very late due to a problem with our train. The decor in the rooms is outdated; stripy wallpaper and floral curtains but the place is clean. Cleanliness is more important to me than decor for just one or two nights. We were on 10th floor with a great view of the O2 but it is not within walking distance because it is the other side of the river. Walk to Canary Wharf tube station (5 mins though the shopping mall) then one stop to North Greenwich. Breakfast was not included in our deal booked online; the choice and quality was good but the price was extortionate £13.50!! Breakfast has to be paid for at the time, they will not add it to your bill which could be awkward - not everyone takes a wallet to the dining room. I agree with previous reviewers, the toiletries are inadequate.
