“Weekend Break”
Reviewed 1 December 2013 via mobile

Just returned from a two night break staying at this hotel. I booked a quad room having seen the pics on the hotels web page and thought it looked great. Was slightly disappointed on arrival to find the room we were given was tiny!!! 4 beds all crammed into one tiny room, 1x tiny wardrobe with 1 hanger for four people!!! Just as well we were all prepared to live out the cases!! On that note though I would defiantly recommend this hotel as the location is brilliant, the staff were all first class, the breakfasts were amazing. The hotel itself was a joy to stay in this making the whole weekends stay a pleasure! Would certainly go back!

Stayed here for one night,as going to the royal albert hall, got a very good price plus breakfast.rooms are small but perfectly functional, very clean, with tea making facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.located in a great area with some good bars and restaurants. The staff and service was outstanding and staff were so helpful about pointing out things in the area. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of fruit ,cereals croissants ,yogurts ,eggs ,toast, juices and tea and coffee, with the option of a full cooked breakfast for a small amount of money extra. But over all it's the staff that make this hotel great.

Located in a nice quite neighbourhood with good transport links at 7min walk. Some rooms a bit small but really clean and comfortable. A nice continental breakfast. But what sets this hotel really apart is the staff!! Everybody was really helpfully and made this place feel like a home away from home. Specially Eleonora and Anna from the reception but also the rest of the staff and the breakfast team.
We will be back.

My wife and I stayed at that hotel for three nights in October 2013. The hotel is very clean and it is a 5 minute walk to 2 tube stations. Very friendly staff, great breakfasts and many restaurants around. The rooms are extremely small by North american standards but not by European standards. One has to get used to live in very small rooms when visiting Britain. The only fly in the ointment was that the elevator suffered a major motor breakdown just before we arrived so we had to walk 6 flights of stairs at least three times a day. It was not pleasant for my wife who had had a knee replacement. I had a very long conversation with the manager and he was very understanding and apologetic and give us a 50% discount on the room as a result. Mechanical breakdowns can occur anytime but what he did about it was what was important. He mentioned that one of his goals is to make sure that his customers are happy and he will do whatever is possible to do. Maria at reception was extremely helpful with information and presenting the various options and prices to get from there to Heathrow. She organised a taxi for us which was the best option for us and actually cheaper than the express train. I recommend this place for its staff, cleanliness, very comfortable bed and location.

due to business, i had to stay around paddigton area for a week and i've end up choosing this hotel because it was one of the best choice with a good quality/cost ratio founded while browsing booking.com -

so i've picked the Duke for my stay but i want's pleased with my move .

the service at the reception was good and i've enjoyed guides and instructions while talking to whoever was on shifts. good Personell and pretty competent.

instead i've got unlucky with the accomodation itself : infact the hotel assigned me a room at the ground floor just behind the reception which i've reckoned to be small and a bit oldish . it was indeed clean, which was the most important thing, but i always forget what it takes in uk to get a good room: money !!!

the bathroom was small and cheap : i didn't enjoy my showers and the sink was minimal and too little even to think to wash up my face. the sink was that small that even for brashing my teeth i had to get into the shower to find some room and not hurting myself while doing it.

the bed was good , firm and hard , long enough , while the curtains in the room were always closed because the view out of the window was simply awful .

I've spent around 200euros a night for a double bed room included breakfast and wifi : the signal needs to be improved while the morning breakfast was simply not good enough : the room at the basement is tiny and while it gets crowdy, becomes noisy and the entire breakarea feels small and smaller . the internationl breakfast instead is minimal and the quality was not amazing.

i hope you will get a better room the next time i show up at Dukes'.

ciao

Epi

I stayed one night here with my 22 year old son, we were on our way to Devon and were forced to stay overnight in London. Picked this hotel as it was cheap and walking distance from both Paddington and Queensway. I would say that this hotel is not for long stays but great for the one night

Pluses
The room was clean and tidy
We were able to leave our bags in the luggage room (a cupboard) even though we had booked out, so we could have a long walk round Hyde Park, at the end of the road.
Breakfast was very adequate
Location was great
Restaurants nearby

Minus
Bathroom was amazingly small, and we were given a family room.

I woulddefinately recommend this for brief stopovers not for a holiday
