“Pleasant Weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

Stayed Saturday night, All amenities needed and well located. Close enough to the center of London for all attractions. May need to make use bus/taxi or underground but a pleasant day time walk through Hyde Park for the more energetic. Westfield shopping center very close by lots of restaurants and shops, designer and otherwise.

I've stayed here a few times on business - not my first choice as it is not a great location for where I need to be for work but it's fairly convenient for the tube. As a hilton honors member I don't think I've ever been upgraded - the standard rooms are functional but in need of a refurbishment - lots of beige and general wear and tear. The room I have this week has a super kingsized bed which is great except it is the noisiest bed I think I be slept in - probably time it was replaced ( but maybe a problem isolated with this room). The Exec Lounge is fairly nice but the range of evening canapés and serving times for drinks is not as good as other Hilton's in London. The bar is open plan to receptionist and regularly has sport playing on the TVs which is fine if you like football but not if you don't and just want a quiet drink without staying in your room (this comment could probably apply to most hotels I've stayed in in London to be fair). Overall there are much nicer Hilton's in London but this one presents better value for money.

Stayed at Hilton Kensington for 3 nights when we first flew in from Australia. The room was ready as soon as we got there which was a wonderful surprise. The room was more than big enough to fit the three of us. Even the fold out single sofa seat bed was comfortable.

The front desk and restaurant staff were very polite and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were made to feel welcome. Concierge on the other hand were a little less attentive - during one conversation I was having with the Concierge, mid sentence he started talking to another guest who appeared to be a regular to him. But this was a minor issue and only happened the once.

On the whole I would recommend this hotel as it was easy to get around London with the hop on/off bus stop right across the road and taxi's were easy to get.

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel I was to be quite honest a bit worried about what to expect. We were held up in terrible traffic coming up from Cornwall so were 2 1/2 hours late getting to the hotel so we only had 30 minutes to get ourselves ready for dinner. The staff coped admirably well, the food was lovely and we were very pleased with our room, a little small perhaps but very clean, lovely toiletries, tea/coffee etc. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom top class. Breakfast next morning, well I have never experienced such a variety at breakfast time, and we all looked forward to breakfast time every morning which kept us filled up until mid afternoon.

All the staff were very friendly and apologetic if they forgot to clear away our dirty dishes and were very helpful giving directions to the beautiful Holland park for a lovely Sunday Morning stroll.
The only downside were the extremely high prices in the bar and for teas and coffee, but this London and we are certainly not used to paying these prices in Cornwall.

We hope we didn't disturb too many guests with our Cornish "sing-a-longs" each evening ! All that were there seemed to enjoy us.

Thankyou Hilton, and whoever is reading this please don't believe all the reviews on here.

We checked in to the hotel at approx 4pm,where we were greeted by a friendily receptonist who was chatty and polite to us.She immediately upgraded us to a Exec room which was great, she also informed us we could use the Exec loungewhich offered comp drinks and nibbles, thatis open from 6pm to8pm.We arrived shortly after 6pm the staff were efficent and friendily as well.We met some nice guests in there who we got talking to.We had apleasant evening there,we also had a bottle of sparkling wine sent up to our room for my bday which was a nice touch. The room was fine but not to spacious but more than adequate.Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and nice and hot<buffet breakfast>.So all in all a really good wend, well done kens Hilton.

Although my room was large, comfortable and clean, overall I was not impressed by this Hilton at all. It is certainly not worth the price paid. Breakfast is extra at £15 and there is no free wifi in the rooms, though it is available for a staggering £15 extra per day! The a/c in my room was noisy, even when switched off it seemed. My colleagues room was very small and much less comfortable. Also, they do not accept Mastercard and require you to pay on arrival. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful and it is reasonably well served by public transport. Overall, I would not return here.

Stayed for 4 days/3 nights 30/10 to 02/11 on a half term sightseeing trip with the kids. Booked two twin rooms via Expedia to give us a bit more room, got a deal with breakfast included which worked out much better value than paying for breakfast on arrival. Price overall wasn't bad given it's London.

Location is fine, 5 minutes walk to Shepherds Bush underground and a short Tube trip along the Central Line to the majority of the popular London attractions. Adjacent to the underground are the Westfield and West 12 shopping centres, loads of shops and restaurants here.

Requested adjacent rooms beforehand, on arrival the receptionist said we could have interconnecting if we were happy for one of the rooms to be King size bed instead. We accepted this, which was much more convenient. Rooms are a bit small but pretty well appointed. Big flat screen TV, iron/ironing board, hairdryer and safe in wardrobe. Bathroom was again a bit small but did the job. We were on the 1st floor at the front but didn't really get disturbed at night, heard sirens one night but no different to home really.

Service from reception and concierge was very good, polite, friendly and helpful. Service at breakfast was a bit patchy, didn't seem able to cope with the restaurant being full so a long time for tea/coffee to arrive and plates to be taken away, also ran out of bacon and eggs on Saturday morning which took a while to be replenished. Bar service was fine, however a 10% "discretionary" service charge was added on in a seemingly inconsistent way, i.e. by some but not others and irrespective of whether I went to the bar to get my own drink or opted for table service.

Breakfast itself was fine, self-service and plenty of choices. Bar drinks were a bit expensive (£4.50 (+10% occasionally)) but this is London after all.

I would definitely return providing the price hadn't gone up!
