DoubleTree by Hilton London Ealing
Ranked #249 of 1,077 Hotels in London
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 3 June 2014

The Ealing HILTON DOUBLETREE (a Hilton franchise of sorts) is an improved version of the hideous Ramada Jarvis that I once reviewed (rudely). It would be difficult not to improve on the Ramada, so appalling and overpriced was it, with one of the most uncomfortable and ugly hotel lounges in London. The new lounge seems to have been designed by a colour blind veteran of the Festival of Britain, with its Scandinavian shelves and ghastly orange and brown. But at least it is comfy with a nice deep carpet. The prices are still staggering for a hotel on Ealing Common, a long way from the West End, but priced as though on Park Lane. The restaurant service is well meaning, the absurdly expensive rooms are standard / anonymous / international / bland, there is ample parking (with warnings to lock your boot). But the staff try hard to please, and the bar staff - Nora, Miss Singh and Andrea in particular - are thoroughly professional and charming. Stay here if someone else is paying or if you get a good deal, it boasts easy access to London (Ealing Common tube is 2 minutes walk away). Not for honeymoon couples though, there is nothing romantic about the panoramic view of the North Circular.

Room Tip: it makes little difference, none have a view to write home about and all are the same.

Dear nickyarthur,

Thank you for taking the time to once more review our hotel. This time in it's final form rather than the two previous visits that I noted were pre and during refurbishment. As being the General Manager on the end of your review for this visit I am pleased that it is slightly less scathing than those earlier reviews.

I am sorry that you did not like the style of the bar that was opted for but I am aware that is impossible to account for every persons personal taste. We have had substantial positive feedback during the first 12 months of operating as a DoubleTree by Hilton and in particular the design concept.

What is pleasing to me is that the service was spot on. For if we do not get that right then the refurbishment would not cover these shortcomings.

Hopefully on your next visit we can score even higher for your review.

Kind regards

Matt Williams

Stayed one night for a visit to wembley. Close to the tube for travel into London. Buses to and from wembley. Excellent stay, with clean well equiped rooms. Staff were polite and helpful will definitely use again.

Very modern stylish hotel with good facilities. close to the tube for access to central London etc. only slight criticism is that the room was quite small especially the bathroom, I imagine this could be an issue for larger guests.

This is a nice hotel and is a consistent with the quality of the Double Tree brand in the U.S. The hotel is in a quiet area, well away from the main tourist areas. But, it is very close to several tube stations and is easily accessible to get anywhere with relative ease. The front desk can order a mini cab, which is considerably cheaper than the black London cabs. A ten minute walk to the west will bring you right into the Ealing village where there are plenty of restaurants and pubs.

Dear Rawan S,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback after your recent stay with us.

I am pleased that you had an enjoyable experience overall but perhaps were a little underwhelmed with our breakfast. This is surprising as it is normally commented on quite positively. We do offer vegetarian sausages and a weekly breakfast special to add some variety to our breakfast buffet. I am sorry if these options were not highlighted to you.

We do hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel, excellent value and lovely breakfast - eggs cooked fresh to order was a nice touch. Good value rooms, only downside was charging £12.50 for parking. Very convenient for underground and good base to visit London

Our stay certainly exceeded our expectations. We received the warmest of welcomes at reception and went off and enjoyed a lovely Nespresso coffee and delicious warm cookie in our room. We stayed in a standard room which was tastefully furnished and very clean. The nicest surprise in some ways was that all staff we met around the hotel were friendly and welcoming when they saw us. Our experience at other hotels, for example, is that chambermaids usually try to avoid eye contact where possible. The hotel is conveniently located on the North Circular road which made it easy for us to drive to and just a few hundred yards is Ealing Common Underground Station. Will definitely stay here again on a visit to London.
