“Off the beaten path ... not a bad thing”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

This hotel strikes a nice a balance: A little savings in exchange for being off the beaten path (but still remaining in Zone 1).

You're a short walk from the Queensway stop on the central line and just a few steps further away from Bayswater station on the district and circle lines.

It's generally a quiet residential neighborhood. I'd compared it to the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York. Pretend Hyde Park is like Central Park in New York.

Despite the residential nature of the neighborhood, the services on Queensway are surprisingly abundant. Every basic service is there (Starbucks and Pret for coffee; Tesco and Sainsbury's for groceries; Indian, Middle Eastern, Italian, Chinese restaurants; pubs everywhere), many were even open on Christmas Day.

Neighborhood tips: This hotel is 4 blocks away from the Queensway station. The property is bigger and nicer than a Hilton that's on top of the Queensway station. But if proximity to the tube stop is your top priority, you might want to consider the Hilton if it's for the same price. There are many money exchange stores on Queensway. Definitely shop around. But I found the store at 31 Queensway (didn't get the name) to have the best rate.

Close to Tube station and easy commute.
Room was small but clean. Door was very flimsy but luckily the other guests were quiet!
Did walk past the front entrance initially as it's a bit hidden!
Breakfast was good.

This was my first stay at this hotel although a colleague had stayed here previously. Pleasantly surprised at how well turned out the hotel is which is apparently the result of a refurbished in the not to distant past. Really nice. Stayed in single room which came with a good size bed, bigger than any single I've ever seen, huge TV, minibar, nice shower room. Good size safe for valuables, big enough for a large laptop computer.

Bar was kept open by the night porter for late service and the breakfast in the morning was a buffet from a very wide selection offered.

Staff were very pleasant through and always helpful and with tube stations nearby in either direction along the main road, this will be a no brainer for future stays in central London.

Dear Ron_Galbraith

Please accept our sincere thanks for posting such a lovely review on Trip Advisor. It is great to hear your stay was enjoyable and thank you for noting the comfort of the single room, we have done our best at design stages to fit as big beds as possible into those rooms and I am really pleased to confirm they all come with 4ft / 120cm wide bed so guests can get a really comfortable night’s sleep!

Thank you for the lovely comments about the pleasantness and helpfulness of the team, we are all looking forward to welcome you back soon!!

With kindest regards and best wishes for New Year

Stayed here for one night this past weekend and i could'nt tell you how good of an hotel this is. My girlfriend, her 2 year old boy and i loved it here. The staff are very friendly and made big fuss over my girlfriends 2 year old boy. The loction was perfect Queeensway tube station is just a couple of minuite's walk and other direction had Notting Hill tube station which was a little further but not still close enough. The hotel itself is very modern and looks georgeous inside and out. The room we had was a King room and we loved it as it had everything we needed. It didnt have the baby cot when we first arrived but within minuite's of checking in housekeeping was at our door with it. The breakfast in the morning was a traditional continental breakfast and was spot on couldnt fault any of it.

Overall fantastic place to stay and will defintly be looking at this hotel when we come back in June and would highly reconmend it to anyone.

This is a lovely modern and well furnished hotel in a slightly quieter part of London We spent one night at the hotel after visiting Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. It was a good walk from Marble Arch but there are plenty of buses and Queensway tube station is very close by. The staff were very welcoming and although our room wasn't ready on our arrival we were given complimentary at the bar whilst we waited for the room to be ready. The room was very comfortable overlooking the front of the hotel (Room 315) there was complimentary tea and coffee and also a Nespresso coffee machine with three coffee pods which was a nice touch. The bathroom was a little compact but modern. The walk in shower was great but the shower head is a little low if you are on the tall side but showering wasn't a major problem.
The bed was very comfortable and despite the room being at the front of the hotel (our choice) we had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was very nice with a option of continental or cooked or both if you so wish. There was plenty of choice and something for everybody's individual preference. This as a good hotel just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of the West End but close enough to all of the sights and shops. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends

Dear Mark P

Sincere thanks for your wonderful review of DoubleTree Hyde Park.

It is great to read you have found the hotel lovely and our team welcoming. I do apologise for a low headroom, most of our ceilings are a little on the low side but we have a few mezzanine floor rooms with high ceilings, please do let us know ahead of the next stay and we will allocate you one of those!!

Looking forward to welcoming you back to the hotel!

This newly converted DoubleTree is everything a business traveller may want. Excellent big comfy beds, great working space, big plasma tv to relax and of course Free WI-FI that actually works! Aside from that, great customer service and the location is exceptional, 3 minutes away from 3 tube stations and on the door steps of Kensington Gardens. A great "home" away from home and will definetively be returning!
