“Compact and quiet”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

So, let's start with the main complaint we'd read here before we visited - that it's supposedly riven with road noise if you're on the front of the hotel.

Not so.

Sure, if a vehicle passes with a siren on it, you'll hear that - but the odd siren is all. The impression some reviews here give that it'd be like sleeping on the median of a dual carriageway is just wrong. (And if you find the sound of a passing ambulance or police car disruptive, why would you be staying in the heart of London on a busy thoroughfare anyway? It's like going to Venice and complaining there's boats outside your window.)

We were on the Mezzanine with a balcony, so were surprised and delighted to discover that once the door was closed, it was peaceful.

Like a lot of London hotels, there's a lot packed into a small space - even the reception area is compact - but it's done incredibly well.

The bed is comfy; the room clean and modern. Everything works well; there's a proper hairdryer not tethered to the inside of a drawer. You get an iPhone docking station-cum-alarm clock with an additional USB charging point on the side; and ample plug sockets. The TV is Smart and the staff are friendly.

Protip: There's a constant supply of ice-cold water in the gym room.

We didn't try the cafe downstairs but it looked popular.

Walking distance of Queensway and Notting Hill tubes.

One small thing - the 'park view' isn't exactly a fib, but you do get a better view of the coach park rather than Hyde Park...

Oh: and make sure your taxi driver knows which Doubletree you're going to, and doesn't go sailing off to the one at the other corner of the park.

Room Tip: Go for the balcony room if you can - but there's only three, so good luck

I booked a two night stay for me and my boyfriend for his birthday. I found a summer sale offer which included breakfast for a very reasonable price. From the moment we arrived it was a great experience with polite and friendly staff at the welcome desk and free warm cookies. The room was amazing with lovely city views and the breakfast was good! Easy location to kensington and Hyde park and the two local tube stations. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. It made my boyfriends birthday just that bit extra special!

At the end of my trip Doubletree by Hilton on Hyde Park offered me a place of quality at a great price I a great location close to 2 tube stations and the 148 bus. With Hyde Park opposite you can walk to your hearts content or go shopping at nearby Oxford Street catching London bases passing the door. The staff were caring and attentive to detail and if you love George Cooney coffee I your room and a fresh warm cookie on arrive you have fou d the perfect spot at this motel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room with a city view and you'll get it. If you prefer a larger shower rather th...

I purposely didn't read any reviews before I came as I sometimes worry about guests complaints and it puts me of booking. I have done this on the last 10 or so hotels I've stayed at and find this is the way to go as there is just no pleasing some people.
The hotel was very clean and the rooms have a temperature control which we set to 16 and found this really cooled the room down as London was so hot and sticky. The beds were comfortable and both nights we had good nights sleep. I normally get woken up very early with other guests banging about in their rooms or talking loudly in the corridors so I'm putting this down to good sound proofing in this hotel. The rooms look brand new as does the en-suite. Everything looks expensive and we felt we were in a quality hotel. There is even a fridge that you can cool your drinks down in. Really loved this hotel and would recommend and stay in again.
Free wifi in the room worked fine during out stay. No complaints at all and enjoyed the hot chocolate chip cookie given on arrival.

Freshly baked warm welcome cookie on arrival, nice staff, beautiful room (although my single room was very small), a Nespresso machine in the room, beautiful bathroom with great toiletries, good air con, great TV, comfy bed, large window, really handy to Queensway tube station, fast wifi. Would happily stay here again!

Tiniest down side for me was that the windows don't open for fresh air but I spent so little time in the room that this was not a major issue.

The rooms were hot, the shower/bath difficult to work, and the some of the staff do what they feel like doing and if you have dietary issues would not recommend this hotel as the some of the staff seem to think if they can eat it so can you, so don't bother them!
