Having read some of the previous reviews we were not sure about staying here. However we were arriving via Hammersmith and our other family members from 'Oz' via Heathrow having spent a few weeks in the 'Med'. Could not have chosen a better location for us all to converge at and even works on the underground made no difference.
The hotel was clean & bright with the staff very helpful and answered any requests and questions as if it was no trouble at all. What more could you want? The rooms we booked were excutive with king size beds and we were not disappointed. Both rooms were quite suitable for each couple and since they could not get us rooms together we ended up with them on different floors and facing different directions, again both were well fitted and our guests who could be quite demanding having lived in luxury for the previous few weeks were quite happy with the choice in every way.
Breakfast was worth the money, even if it was just so you did not have to have a mid morning snack. It is a branded restaurant so if you want or expect more then eat else where. The waiting staff were very attentive.
Depending on your expectations and requirements you could pay more but I would be happy to stay here again if I did not want excessive 'city' rates and needed an easy accessable and transpot friendly location.
Could not fault the hotel or either of the rooms we had at all.

Room Tip: Book executive rooms for the best space area

We (2 female friends) stayed at the Mecure Paddington for 2 nights. We had a standard room with 2 single beds which was clean and looked recently renovated. The beds were very comfortable but the room was tiny and we barely had enough room to put our luggage. We had a window that opened and overlooked Praed Street. The hotel is right next to Paddington Station - ask railway staff for directions to Praed St and on leaving the station you will see the hotel on the left. It is above a Garfunkles restaurant where you could have breakfast, but we found there were cafes across the road serving the full English breakfast for approx 4 - 5 pounds. The area is interesting to walk around and there are a couple of typical English pubs in close proximity. It is about 3 blocks to Hyde park and you can walk through the park and onto Buckingham Palace in about 40 minutes. We had free wi-fi in our room but this is not always included in your room rate - check the fine print on your booking.
We caught the Heathrow Connect train to and from the airport - this is much cheaper than the Heathrow Express and takes approx 30 mins, stopping a few times enroute to Paddington.
A good hotel in a very convenient location next to the station, but very small rooms.

Dear Guests,
Many thanks for choosing our hotel for your recent 2 night break in London, and that you found our hotel and bed comfortable. You booked a standard twin bedded room for your stay. For future reference should you have a considerable amount of luggage we do have larger executive twin bedded rooms and only a little supplement. We do look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future.
Kind regards

Stayed here for 3 nights on my own little weekend/shopping getaway. I really liked the location of this hotel, right next to Paddington station. If you use the heathrow express, you can do "door-to-door" in 20 minutes. Doesnt get much better than that. Also, you have a wide range of food just outside the door. Ofcourse, mostly fast food, but also some decent restaurants aswell. My room was however a bit on the small side, but travelling alone it didnt bother me. I would have been a bit disappointed if sharing a room. The staff, well, they did what they were supposed to, so neither good or bad. Dont mind small rooms? Got a good rate? Go for it!

Meals are served in The Garfunckel restaurant next door, it had to be the most dire breakfast I have ever been served in a london hotel! The hotel is great, ideal for the tube and main railway station but they seriously need to consider were they send guests for food. There must be better greasy spoon cafe's than Garfunckels!!!

Dear Guests,
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review on our Mercure Hotel Paddington. And that you found our hotel to be great for visiting London. Please accept our apologies regarding the breakfast offered by the Garfunkel’s restaurant. Please be assured we have worked closely with the managers of the restaurant to ensure the breakfast is considerably improved. Which I hope you could comment on should you visit us again in the future.
Kind regards

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for two nights on 2nd sept. The room was absolutely tiny and ensuite tiny. The staff at the check in desk were totally unhelpful. On our second night there, we could not access our room as key wouldnt work and the porter was watching tv and did not want to be disturbed. Finally, he tried the room with the master key and it would not work., so we had to go to another room for the night. We were provided with one toothbrush between us as he couldnt find anymore. (He didnt try very hard anyway as he wanted to go back to his tv). Next morning we could not access our room until 10.20 and the staff at the desk did not care!. I would not in a million years ever stay at this hotel again. The staff there are not in the slightest bit interested in the guests at the hotel.

Room Tip: Do not accept a tiny room as there are bigger rooms there.

Dear Guests,
Please accept our sincere apology for the unexpected lock failure on your bedroom door. Fortunately this is a very rare occurrence that a bedroom security lock completely fails. The staff on duty called a specialist engineer to resolve this problem as soon as possible. Please also accept our apology that you felt the staff did not assist you further in your plight. We do hope that you allow us in the future prove to you and your friend that all our staff are 100% dedicated to or guests and their comfort.

This is my third stay at this hotel. It is still wonderful. The rooms are small but this is normal for London. Fantastic staff, always helpful, always with a smile. My friend has never been to London before and she absolutely loved the hotel. I will definitely be going back again.

We booked this hotel for a 3 day stay in London after a British Isles cruise. The hotel appears to have been recently remodeled and is in good condition. As almost anywhere in London, the rooms are small but are nicely appointed. The location couldn't be better: right across the street from the Paddington station with it's access to the tube and rail services. We had a room overlooking the street. and while you think there would be a lot of noise: there wasn't:: due to well insulated windows. We would definitely repeat the stay.
