I experienced similar to other visitors with respect to certain aspects of service after our recent stay. Firstly our hotel room was a five to ten minute walk from the lifts. This was swiftly changed following a fire alarm going off ten minutes after arrival. Note ask for rooms near the lift access as this was the farthest I have ever had to walk to a room. The rooms are dated and bathrooms way behind modern times. The hotel check in and out had waits of over ten mins due to lack of staff. The staff themselves are professional whereas the issue is the lack of them. This is the worst Marriott I have stayed at with regards to service and feel, the corridors are long and have a hospital feel. Information is lacking and the fitness facilities require special access rights and trips to another floor of the hotel, basically you have to go between floors to even get into the facility aka crystal maze style! The location is great but you can stay at premier inn for a similar type of service and feel. I Stayed at Hilton tower bridge the first few nights and was well worthy of five star rating and significantly better value.

Room Tip: Book the higher room numbers. I stayed in 402 which was a trek from the lift

cannot fault this place, from the moment you arrive, the chauffer takes your car and parks it into the car park. You walk in and its very picturesque, although slightly pretentious. Would definetly return, worth every penny of what they charge! Not to mention the comfortableness of the beds, never have i slept in beds like Marriotts!!

Recently stayed on a weekend break.
The hotel is in a great position and the initial welcome was first class. So many staff wanting to help however the check in desk was slow and always seemed under staffed.
It is clear that service levels differ towards the 'executive guests ' who seem to have every need catered for at reception - I wasn't even asked if a newspaper was required!
Room was good although there was hair in the bath albeit the view was first class. There was no issue with noise.
Restaurant service was ok but had to request a move a table since the first table was about to collapse. The cooked breakfast arrived while we were still eating cereal and the toast arrived just as we were about to finish!
Public bathrooms were not to the highest standard for a 5 star property and maybe there are some learns from the Savoy.
Overall an OK experience but not a 5 star experience particularly based on the rates charged. If you just want the location there is a Premier Inn just around the corner in the same building.

I stayed at this hotel with my family of 4 for a vacation. Thinking that it would be a nice hotel, especially for the large price we would be paying, we booked 2 bedrooms. On the first night our rooms were underneath a generator that made an unbearable noise constantly. It kept us up all night. Also, there was mascara and eyelashes on the sheets and food on the ground in one room. Obviously this room had not been cleaned properly. We had the maid service come to clean and requested a room change for the next night. This was inconvenient because they didn't have 2 rooms next to each other somewhere else. They were able to move us together for the 3rd night. When we checked into the 3rd room there was a giant, black hair hanging out of the sink and a full garbage can in the bathroom full of old razors and trash. I would never stay at this hotel again. Although it looked very nice from the outside and has had great ratings, the cleanliness of the rooms did not meet even the lowest of standards.

Room Tip: I would not recommend staying here, but if you are avoid the top floor and very ends of the hallways...

Everything positive stated on the reviews are true! Thanks to TripAdvisor we used many of the suggestions before arriving at this wonderful hotel. My 18-year-old son and I just returned from 8 nights in early August (yes, during the riots) exploring the city and the countryside. We felt like the lobby staff was always waiting to help us -- so kind, always had an answer for our endless questions.

Because we have a Marriott Gold card, we enjoyed the daily Executive Lounge for breakfast and again late at night for a cold drink and baked goods! Our two double bed room was huge -- even by US standards. We had turn down service every night and they left cookies (biscuits) which we took with us during the day on our many bus trips.

Our room overlooked the London Eye. In the morning we looked upon Big Ben from the complimentary breakfast in the Executive lounge. We read one suggestion of booking a car service via the Concierge before arriving. A great idea, especially since we had a trans-atlantic red eye. The fee (75 pounds arriving, 60 pounds departing) was charged to the room bill. You can not beat the location if Parliament, Westminster Abbey, National Theater, London Eye are on your to-do list.

We picked up Oyster cards (good for 7 days) to ride the Underground and used both Westminster and Waterloo stations. The Concierge always had maps and suggestions for sightseeing. We used Premium Tours for three bus trips and they picked us up in the lobby! A nice touch! Every time we walked home for a full day of museums and shows we felt so proud to be staying in such a beautiful property - the exterior is exactly like the photos. The hallways are a long walk, as others have stated, but we walked everywhere in the city. The good news -- I lost 3 pounds once I got home!!

Room Tip: Email the concierge in advance for airport car service or to guarantee 2 beds instead of one.

From the moment we arrived at the Marriott Country Hall, London England, we knew right away we had made a wise choice for our vacation.

The hotel is a huge old government building remolded. It’s is what you would expect to see in a European hotel, dark wood walls, art work.....there were so many front area greeters they are bumping in to each other just wating to assist our needs.

Service was impeccable! The room was impeccable!

We had a garden view that over looked the river and river walk, room 601. The room has a huge soaking tub in which was used almost every night from the many ideal locations that are in walking distance from this hotel.

We were there during the recent riots, being from the states and not knowing London we were a bit concerned. The concierge advised use to just use caution, and if anything should happen while we were out, give the hotel a call, and they would do everything in their power to get us back to the hotel.

On Wednesday evening we were greeted at the grand front lobby to a serving tray of Champagne and light fare… The hotel general manager interdicted herself to us and welcomed us to the gathering, after walking the streets of London, this looked extremely inviting. Management of all levels made it a point to stop and at least say hi and thank us for staying with them, the food and beverage manager stopped by and stayed and chatted with us about London and areas we should take in.

This is a hotel that has done William Marriott a tremendous service and this service is why I try to use Marriott exclusively.

The hotel is at the Westminster Bridge, right next door to the Eye of London and across the river from Big Ben. The underground is right over the bridge.
I will be back!

I return each summer to this hotel and always find it superb with regard to service details and appointments. I value the knowledgeable concierge - although not his younger counterpart. Of course, the location is a big draw as it is just off the Westminster Bridge with a fabulous view of Parliament and Big Ben. Pay a bit more for a room and you just may gaze out your window at this iconic site. There is an excellent work-out room with both wet and dry saunas attached with no extra charge if you are a guest. (For some reason the cold plunge was full of hot water or not functioning this time.) The workout space and spa combination is hard to find in London. One drawback is that good restaurants are not just out the door...you have to plan and travel a bit to those neighborhoods, but then this is right on a bus route and directly across the bridge from the Westminster underground stop.

Room Tip: This is a big property. If you ask for a quiet room you may have to hike a mile to reach that room...
