“Iconic views of Big Ben, staff fantastic, fresh large rooms”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Check in was met with a friendly upbeat concierge bell boy.... Reception lady was just a delight - gave us a very good run down of the hotel amenities
We stayed in room overlooking Big Ben and the London eye. Smallest balcony but romantic and stunning views.
Breakfast was in the old library - intimate and surrounded by books.
Rooms large and fresh, the bed was heaven.only 500 metres walking to AVIS car rental so easy to pick up.
Concierge arranged flowers for us in record time and was a stunning bouquet.
The bar was fun, rowdy, and yet intimate all in one, with fabulous views of Big Ben and London eye.
We moved to this hotel for location, walking straight out onto the Thames was easy and a much needed break from city traffic and business.

Room Tip: View of Big Ben balcony room

My husband and I spent a week in London and stayed at the Marriott London County Hall Hotel. Located in Westminster; in back of the London Eye, we had a spectacular view of the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of Big Ben. The room was very nice and quite roomy for London (which tends to have very small rooms). The only complaint I have is the room's lack of electrical outlets. There were no outlets on the bed side of the room and since my husband requires a cpap machine (because of sleep apnea) we had to use two extension cords which we plugged in under the desk. The machine still didn't reach his side of the bed, so we had to place it on the bed. On the plus side, there were two 110 American outlets so I was able to plug in my laptop and battery charger without using UK adapters. The in-house restaurant was very nice and the food was good but it would have been nice to see a larger section of dishes on the menu. I totally loved the bath. The UK appears to have much larger and deeper tubs than we have in the states and they make for a luxurious soak after a long day of visiting all the attractions London has to offer. I would definitely stay here again, but would come equipped to handle the outlet shortage.

Room Tip: We paid a premium for our room with a view, so keep that in mind if a spectacular view is important...

London had always been a dream vacation for my wife, and on our 6th year anniversary we decided it was time to make that trip. I booked the Marriott London County Hall as a package deal through US Airways and I am glad that I made the booking. The location was the best for a newbie, the view from our room was amazing and the hotel staff was so helpful!

The Marriott County hall is located next to the London Eye, Big Ben and easy access to public transportation. You can also walk to virtually any landmark, museum or restaurant. My wife and I did a lot of walking to explore the city, along with the double decker tour, well worth the money.

The room we had was a lot bigger than I expected, it was clean and had a wonderful view of The London Eye, Big Ben and River Thames. The clock does make a sound, but it was not as bad as I thought it would be and I am a light sleeper. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was great size. My only gripe would be how loud the doors are when they close, but it was not a big deal.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the ice maker :)

Hotel Positives:
Room was large with nice furnishings and a spacious bathroom and very large separate closet area. The bed was comfortable and the room included a desk and two comfortable cusioned sitting chairs.

Our room was on the side of the hotel. We still had a view of the park, part of the Eye, and River Thames. We did not have a Big Bend view but it was still nice

Breakfast room (the library) for executive members was well appointed with a great view of Big Bend and the River Thames

Executive Breakfast was large with fruit, yogurt, various roles and muffins, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cheese and various drinks.

Concierge very helpful. Good suggestions and got us dinner reservations at last minute on a busy weekend due to Holiday.

Gym is large and has many options. Great locker room with steam and dry sauna. Hot tub in men's locker room has not worked for a year. Front desk said major issues with leaking so they had to shut down

Location is great with all major attactions close. 6 days here and we took the underground once. Otherwise walked or rode bikes everywhere. Best part of the hotel and I would come back here just for this.

Negatives:
We had a challenge when we checked in. Registration representative was trying to be helpful with an early check in but the room ended up not being ready as soon as promised and he did not keep us informed or were we given other options. Luggage also took a while to be delivered to room. BUT after letting management know about our difficulties, Becca Burton and the guest relations team responded quickly to address the issue. Thank you Becca.

Executive Lounge - very poor executive lounge especially considering the quality level of the hotel and its location. Room has no windows, was hot and stuffy and the the furniture was old with many of the chair cushion corners wearing through. The food provided in the evening was also not up to the quality of other Marriott executive lounges in Europe or US. That is true whether I am talking about Venice or Budapest or Columbus OH.

Other aspects of the hotel are showing age like the carpets.
No real gathering area around lobby or a convenient bar.

Overall we loved our room and the location of this hotel is ideal for touring London. We were told that the hotel is in the late planning stages of a major remodel. We would stay here again and hope that the remodel will address some of the negative issues we saw. This was old London Gov't Building and the space was not designed as a hotel. Marriott has had to work with some specific layout challenges.

Our overnight stay in this hotel was fantastic. We stopped in the Westminster Suite, the view from the suite looked directly at Big Ben and the quality of all rooms in the suite was awesome. The staff were courteous and extremely helpful, even taking pictures for us when we were ready to leave for the garden party at the palace. The building is situated right next to the Eye for which we booked a daytime and night time ticket (well worth it!) The food in the restaurant was excellent and the stay ran so smoothly, plus we really felt 'well looked after.' The suite was absolutely stunning. The breakfast in the Library was super! Thanks to Theresa M for sorting everything for our stay, which really could not have been any better. A well managed, efficient, top quality hotel.

I did not stay at this hotel but joined colleagues for dinner here so cannot comment on the rooms however the location and interior décor is top notch. The restoration of the old County Hall is wonderfully sympathetic to its grand exterior and history. The food was a set menu but the quality was very good and served well with professional service. With views over the Thames to the old Scotland Yard and steeped in such history I will certainly be wanting to eat here again and maybe even stop over, well worth consideration and well worth paying a little extra for.

Just spent 2 days at this hotel which I feel is first class in every way. The location cannot really be beaten and with so many attractions on the doorstep it is a perfect place to be to see London at its best. A truly magnificent building
Lovely rooms, friendly staff who all seemed eager to please and brilliant facilities all combine to make this a great place to visit and something of a unique hotel experience. I overheard a number of tourists complimenting the staff and promising themselves to come back next year which is always a good sign. I have stayed in most of the major Marriott hotels in London but this one will take some beating!
