We stayed at the County Hall Marriott to celebrate our wedding anniversary with family. The staff are the best part of this hotel. They are friendly and attentive and always said hello when you met them whether this be in the bar, restaurant, or the chamberpersons in the halls. The building is well maintained and the rooms well appointed. We booked two rooms and they were a very long walk from reception. However they did have a reasonable view. The front desk kindly arranged a bottle of Cava to help us celebrate which was a very nice touch and appreciated. Breakfast was not quite as good as other Marriotts we have stayed at. There was a more limited choice and it was difficult to serve yourself from the buffet as it was placed so high up on the bar. I cannot see how a disabled wheelchair user would have been able to manage this independently. However, service was friendly and efficient. It is an ideal location for visiting London - close to Waterloo station, South Bank attractions and an easy walk to West end theatres.

Room tip: Ask for a Thames view room

I used to love the Library Lounge afternoon tea and bubbles deal, was always my go to place and went on average once a month. Not been this year though and took adult family for treat, very disappointed, don’t know if it’s since Alex left. Service really bad, took 40 mins for tea and cold water, water disgustingly warm and had to ask for ice. Sandwiches below average, usually really nice and want more, not this time. Cakes not to any of our liking, again usually fab, but not this time. Had to keep asking for our glass to be topped up, at one point empty for over 15 mins. Eventually service hit better but overall v disappointing to my previous visits.

This is a wonderful hotel with suberb rooms facing the Houses of Parliament. All newly renovated. No noise. Excellent and quick service. Friendly reception and Mark (concierge with the Hamburg hat) is a competent sweet heart. All great hospitality. This hotel is definitely highly recommended

Our room was an upgraded suite on the 5th story club level and goodness, it was horrible. As you enter the round about, there was a mini Big Ben with Astro turn around the side that tourist groups come by and take photos of. Perhaps it's covering a fountain that no one wanted to maintain? As you enter the lobby, you're overwhelmed with the aroma of Stargazers (the flower), perhaps it's to cover the musky smell of the old carpet. We returned one evening from Stonehenge and was almost trapped in the elevator with one of the security guards. His comment was "we gotta get that fixed!" The hallways are claustrophobic because they had to retrofit with drop down ceilings for the fire sprinkler and HVAC systems. Now to the room, the sheets or was it the pillow, stunk like a mixture of mildew and urine. Or was it the carpet? The only plus was the proximity to the London Eye, proximity is not location. County Hall is next to Westminster Bridge where the tourists, homeless, and transients from the train station hangs out. You'll smell the urine and horse manure as you walk out the driveway. We've stayed in all different types of resorts all over the world, and unfortunately, the Marriott County Hall was by far the worst experience. Apparently, this entire building was abandoned for decades before Marriott took over, you'll see the reminance of the vacancy. Stay in Soho, it's much livelier, easier access to food and shopping, and skip this location, especially at the inflated rates they're now charging for peak season bookings. Thank God for points......

Room tip: Check your view before unpacking, 516 has a huge column in front of the window...

Dear Adrenalinwill,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel, County Hall. We value your feedback as it continues to help us to grow and ensure we are providing the best possible service for our guests.

We strive to provide every guest with a unforgettable experience, therefore offer our sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectations on this occasion. The activation on our turning circle is to represent the twenty year anniversary of the hotel, although it does look like a fountain, it is in fact a skylight belonging to the tenant in the building below who wish to cover it.

We do offer a beautiful array of fresh seasonal flowers in the public areas of the hotel which are refreshed weekly. We are surprised to hear of your feedback regarding the carpet and corridors as we have recently completed a full property refurbishment. Your reported concerns of the area are certainly atypical of the County Hall building and the immediate local area.

We were most disappointed to read your experience was not of the high quality we aim for and I wondered if you would have some time to share further details of the room cleanliness so I can investigate further with our Executive Housekeeper.

My email is conor.bartley@marriott.com

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Conor Bartley

This hotel was clean and the staff was very kind. Our rooms were large and spacious. The bed very comfortable. We could walk to nearly everything but the Tower of London-And that was due in part to our son’s broken leg. The walkway from the street to the front door was a bit dirty and could use a cleaning, but don’t judge this book by its cover. We would stay here again! Thank you Marriott.
