I had excellent service at desk from Rick who showed us our rooms early as prearranged and we napped a bit from jet lag before we set out. Room was riverside and very quiet. View could of been better but we hit the town running after our naps anyway. Great location by Waterloo or Westminster underground. The tour buses pick up right outside hotel.
Easy walk across bridge to parliment and abbey and loads of historical sights. Worth the value.

This hotel has a perfect location if you want postcard views of London ( potentially just outside your window if you have a room facing the water; if not, go to the restaurant or patio. It is just across the Thames River from Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. The London Eye is immediately adjacent (and can be seen outside any window facing the river). It is a short and pleasant walk to Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, several museums, or (for a bit longer walk) Buckingham Palace and the Mall. You can talk a long walk or short cab ride down Victoria Embankment to the Tower of London, and take a longer cab or Tube trip (the stations are nearby) to Chelsea, Kensington, and any other part of London. Other reviews describing the hotel as tired or below par for its facilities are partially correct but miss the point. Yes, this is an historic old building and yes it has been retrofit as a Marriott (so floors creak, it can be drafty, it has an unusual floor plan, etc) but it is clean enough and comfortable enough, and a great place to stay if you wish to be surrounded by the classic London landmarks.

The hotel is located on the South bank of the River Thames across from the Parliament and Big Ben. The hotel staff were all very helpful and courteous. Very close to Waterloo and Westminster station. Tea time was excellent but expensive. The scones were fabulous. Breakfast was okay.

The room was a good size, king bed was comfortable. River view was nice. Bathroom was clean.

Overall the hotel was fantastic all around with an excellent location. Would stay again.

The hotel is in a good location but the rooms are outdated and I would described our room as being run down. The furniture wouldn't look out of place in a second hand shop, poorly cleaned rooms. The breakfast was adequate, nothing great about it i have had better quality in B&Bs. The pool is lovely if a tad cold, but very oddly the spa and sauna are not by the pool you have to take a trek across a hall through a coded door which we were not given the access code for until l had to pound on the door to get a member of staff then asking me if i was a hotel guest before giving me it ( there i am stood dripping wet from the pool) then we carried on the journey down three lots of stairs to turn a corner through another changing room where the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room where. The sauna had a member of staffs jumper hanging in there! Also i would love to know why it is that staff (a woman sorting out towels in our case) in these large hotels seem to think it is perfectly acceptable to treat guests like something they just stepped in.
The plus points are that it in a great location and the outer building is beautiful , it is however a great shame that a quality name like Marriot no longer has the standards we are very sadly missing in this country now.

Only stay here for a view, and only book a Studio room on the 6th floor with a balcony.

Rooms are dated, housekeeping is terrible, mess with reservation.

But Big Ben view from the balcony is magnificent.

If Marriott would have a proper quality assurance program in place then this hotel would lose its name in a heartbeat.

Its clear that since there is an unbelievable demand for hotel rooms in London u can sell anything here. This hotel was built 12 years ago and it looks and feels like its at leat 25 years old. Also u get the distinct impression that refurbishment has been out of the question for over 12 years now.

The only good thing about the hotel is the health club. I can say that its one of the best gyms i have ever seen.

Breakfast is a joke for 20GBP. Should be avoided. If u got M&S u can get a much better breakfast for the fraction of the cost.

All in all this hotel gives u the feeling that there is no senior management in place...and if I am wrong about this then they should all be fired this week.

This hotel does not deserve the Marriott name.

This hotel was okay. Nothing horrible, just didnt care for it. First of all the room is very pretty and well located in town. On the down side, when we went out on our balcony, we were met eye to eye with people in the Eye...as in, they are only about 15 feet from your balcony. That is great if you want to be stared at, me, not so much.

Secondly, we had arranged for them to bill our credit card BEFORE arrival...they didnt. They billed it after checkout. We went out of our way to fax them third party credit card info and jump through all their hoops...for nothing, to be billed as you normally would. I am still wondering if we were double billed honestly.

Room service was great, location was great, room was clean and bed was comfortable. I just didnt care for the hotel and it left a bitter taste in my mouth, mostly because of the billing "issue". And it was just too big, it is not just a hotel, there are many other businesses and it is easy to get lost and have no idea how to get back to your room or to where you originally wanted to go, I ended up outside on the wrong side of the building one time, geeze, just a hassle and the layout just doesnt make sense. Wouldnt stay here again.
