Stayed at the hotel for one night when in town for a football match at Craven Cottage, Fulham.
Check in was a little slow but the receptionist was extremely pleasant and courteous.
Very nice, comfortable and airy room on the 6th floor.
We didn't dine in the hotel, but had breakfast in the morning before check out.
Breakfast was excellent. Buffet style with a lovely varied selection.
The waitress in the dining room for breakfast was very efficient and courteous.
Had a few drinks in the hotel bar in the evening.
The service was efficient and courteous. A bit expensive, but typical of London prices.
Really enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in returning.

Stayed at the Kensington Close in April, staff were superb, rooms very clean and comfortable. A brilliant location for sightseeing and eating out. Would definitely stay there again, in fact my daughter stayed there a couple of weeks after us and also thoroughly recommended it. Definitely top of my list of places to stay In London

We booked the 'superior' and made sure it was a spacious room since we were two girls staying for 4 nights and travelling with all our girly stash. This, along with our request for a bathtub, was granted - but that was pretty much all that was good about it.

While the bathroom was clean and modern (though small), the room itsself was outdated and worn; grubby scuff-marks on walls and skirting. It looked nothing like the pictures on the website. It was not a comfortable, antique kind-of 'old' either...
- It was furnished with cheap-looking plywood pieces, possibly a few decades old; a few drawers and a fairly useless cupboard space which at some time obviously contained a mini-bar. The room also contained a smallish overstuffed leather sofa. The bed was very comfortable and clean though.

My side of the bed did not have a bedside-table, so my necessities had to stand on the carpet in the grubby-looking corner.

The curtains were way too narrow for the window; not only allowing in strong sunlight from very early in the morning, but also making us VERY uneasy since there was scaffolding right outside our window. We were a little jumpy that at anytime we might look up and see workmen out there, looking in...

Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning otherwise; but every day there was something they had forgotten to refill - either hand-towels, toilet paper or coffee-milk (despite the daily tip).

Wi-fi costs an extra £9 per day, per device. We opted to use our mobile network from our home-country (which worked out cheaper than what KCH charged.) I understand that pool-access also costs extra, but we had no need for this service.

Had we booked one of the low-price specials which are frequently advertised, i'd get the fact that we were allocated one of their older, worn rooms. But we booked way in advance, at £140,- per night (no bf incl). Even in a country as expensive as my home, that rate would secure some degree of comfort AND include wi-fi.

We booked on the strength of the good reviews, so clearly there are or have been some satisfied guests. We however, are not among them. Feel free to book this hotel, but know that it's as hit-and-miss as playing roulette.

Dear Lillemonster

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us.

I am sorry that your expectations were not met during this stay; we are currently updating our older room stock and hope to complete the project soon. As you have written, our housekeeping team work relentlessly in insuring the highest levels of cleaning are maintained, however, I will address the issue with the team in regards to refills.

In order to maintain our very competitive prices, we do not include Wi-Fi or access to the gym for all room types. We do offer access to the gym, Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast for those guests booking our club rooms and we have recently introduced inclusive Wi-Fi for those booking our Executive rooms. We do offer a selection of rates inclusive and exclusive of breakfast.

Once again, thank you for your feedback, it is only from such information that we look to improve.

Kindest regards

Loved the location with its close proximity to all of the great shopping and restaurants on Kensington High Street. Lobby and public areas were attractive and comfortable. Thankfully, the hotel is in one of the world's great cities because we didn't want spend any more time than we had to in the tiny and unpleasant room. The room we had was terribly small with an equally small and uncomfortable bathroom. The hotel served a nice, traditional English breakfast. Hotel staff members were courteous and helpful for the most part.

Dear Stanford C

Thank you for your review on your recent stay.

Although rooms in our lower room categories can be described as cosy, we do have others available which are far more spacious should you be returning to London, a full description including room sizes, is available on our website.

It was great to read that you enjoyed all other aspects of your stay with us and that you made the most of your time in London.

Kindest regards

A reasonable hotel at a reasonable price in the heart of Kensington.
But, why oh why do they think it's OK to provide free water, free tea, free TV etc but insist on charging £10 to access wifi.
This should be part of the room rate - everywhere!

We stayed here in May 2014 and enjoyed it so much! The service was beyond amazing! Everyone was so helpful. Considering we had just traveled to various countries and didn't experience this, we were beyond ecstatic! The rooms are very small, however, they are clean and the beds are very comfortable. We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it!

I think that there are plenty of better hotels in Kensington that you can get for this price.
The lobby and breakfast are ok. But the room is awfull.
First it is SMALL. Bathroom is so small that you cannot loose needle there. Bed? Well they said its bed for two. Yes, maybe two three year old kids.
And now to the problems. the biggest one is AIR. Air conditioning is noisy. So you cant run it during sleep. So if you decide to opet the window, you will notice that it is located just below another air conditioning exhaust. Awfull.
And, in such small room you really need some air!
The door. Even if you insert card in the slot, and get green light, chances that you will open it are 50/50. So I called service guy to fix it. He said he will. Never saw him again.
But he fixed tv, and electricity problem that I had.
I will stop right now because no good memories from this room

Room Tip: Get the one not facing air conditioning exhaust

Dear Hrvoje J

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay.

It was disappointing that we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us. We have ensured that a full description is available on our website which includes room dimensions so that our guests are informed at the reservation stage. Although some of the rooms in the lower categories can be described as cosy, we do offer others which are extremely spacious and include such benefits as free Wi-Fi, breakfast and access to the Leisure facility. Our standard double rooms are furnished with a standard double bed (as advertised); however we do have King and Queen Size beds available in the higher categories.

I will be certain to notify your concerns with regards to the air-conditioning to the engineering team who check our units on a regular rotation.

Once again, I apologise that we were unable to meet your expectations on this occasion but do hope that you will visit us again in the future.

Kindest regards
