Had a night at the hotel, while attending a function in the hotel.
Quick check-in, decent room with a very comfortable bed.
Good view of the park from our room.
Decent breakfast with a lot of variety.
Great location, very close to a lot London as to offer.

Room Tip: Get one with a view of the park

A friend and I spent 4 nights at the Lancaster while we explored London. Clean and comfortable rooms. Handy to Paddington also tube next door. Bike hire over the road so you can explore Hyde Park. Room was quiet and staff friendly

Dear nyorababe,

Thank you for your fantastic review on Tripadvisor.

You have given a really nice tip for the summer months to explore London by bike; we have indeed a Barclays Bike rental station literally across the road, so perfect for a ride through Hyde Park.

We hope to welcome you back in the not too distant future.

Kind Regards

Ideal location across from the Hyde Park and next to the tube station. Plenty of dining options within a 10 minute walk. Top that with a clean room and great service, and what you have is a nice vacation. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor for a good view of the City.

This hotel is directly across from the north side of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, a several- block walk from Paddington Station and a half block from Lancaster Gate Tube Station. So the popular London sites are quite accessible. Our room was on the 14th floor overlooking the parks, high enough to enjoy the London skyline over rooftops. The staff was friendly, the room quite comfortable, though smaller than we are used to for a king bedroom in the USA. A breakfast buffet is available, but the cost is not included with the room. We found the connected restaurant, The Island, served good breakfasts for less. This restaurant also serves lunch and a good dinner if you are too tired to walk the single block to the nearest pub. We loved our servers Francisco, Stephen and Dimi. Our one dissatisfaction was the erratic Internet connection in our room, which is also only available for an additional fee.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Hyde Park and on an upper floor to take advantage of the skyline view.

I needed a room for the night to stay for a corporate dinner and I was placed in the Lancaster London. Check-in was swift and courteous and the lobby was very impressive. I was quickly in my room and had a look. Everything was there, the room was large enough for two and there were decent facilities. A nice touch was the opportunity to order fresh milk or ice from reception.

The public areas are charming. The breakfast room, overlooking Hyde Park, is a delight and the breakfast served wasn't bad either. There was lots of choice - including Japanese, Thai and Arabic options - that would satisfy most visitors.

There are plans for a major refurbishment of the hotel: whilst the furniture is a little tired in places it is far from tatty and only the fussiest person would be worried. Once the rooms have been done this will be a model hotel.

What makes this hotel spectacular is the location. You are walking distance from Paddington station (and the fast link to Heathrow), Hyde Park and Oxford Street. There are also buses and the underground within a minute of the front door.

If all of that isn't enough, this part of London is generally low-rise compared to many cities, so if you are in one of the higher rooms you can see to the horizon. I had a room facing east, overlooking the City and Canary Wharf which was very impressive. At night the tallest buildings in London - including the Shard - are lit up and make for a wonderful sight.

Room Tip: Get a room as high up as you can = London will look great.
