“Excellent Hotel & Good Location”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We recently spent two nights at the Thistle Kensington Gardens, organised as a theatre break with rail travel from Derby by Omega Holidays. We were allocated as requested a quiet double room situated on the 5th floor of the hotel, although the room was small it was very clean with a great bathroom and soft towels. The room had everything we could have wished for including tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and even an iron and ironing board, The buffet breakfast was also very good. All the staff were very helpful and efficient in the performance of their duties. We would have no hesitation at staying there again and booking with Omega Holidays. Well done Thistle Kensington Gardens and Omega Holidays.

Room Tip: Hotel is an ideal location for Kensington High Street you can walk through the park) and Oxford Stre...

We ate at the hotel,s restaurant on a Saturday evening using an Amazon voucher for a x 2 course steak meal and a glass of champagne each.
Staff were friendly but unfortunately the restaurant was quite full with a loud tour party. The starters ( soup and pate) were well presented and tasty. The steak meal ,however, was not very good. The sirloin was tough and not at all tasty, the few bots of lettuce were not well presented but the saving grace were the chunky chips which were lovely. We decided to skip the dessert course .
Not terrible but at best an average meal out

Our room was upgraded to a king, overlooking Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The staff was helpful and welcoming. There was one laptop available in the lobby for guest use, but free WiFi in the rooms. The location, near Queensway in Bayswater, was perfect and put so many restaurants and attractions within reasonable walking distance. The included breakfast buffet was sumptuous, to say the least.

Had a nice lunch on Saturday with the family with very friendly and helpful staff. Agnija, Anna, Orianna and the Spanish guy were great. Food quality was good and the park view from the Restaurant is very nice! Thanks to all of them!!

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon around europe.
Superb location, we walked to all tourist attractions from here except for the Tower of London which is easily accessible by train.
Beautiful Hyde Park and Kensington Park on your doorstep. Small supermarket/petrol station at the bottom of the hotel.
Wonderful pubs and restraunts nearby.
Only downfall is rather expensive and the tiny elevator which can only fit 1-2 persons with luggage.

Walking along Bayswater Rd (from Queensway Tube station) looking for the hotel I noticed a petrol station and realised this was directly below the hotel. Having found the entrance on the side road I took the lift to the 1st floor reception and was met with a speedy check-in and early access to my room.

The room itself was compact with an okay standard of furnishings, yet entirely functional and just for one night. My main memories are the low ceiling height and the cramped bathroom but remember its central London, in an good value hotel and the location means a lot can be forgiven. My only reservation about recommending the hotel is that the bar / food is particularly expensive.

Overall, if you need a just a room in central London, then the Thistle is worth considering.

Ok hotel, but nothing special and staff didnt seem that familiar with the area. Probably has a nice view if your room is on the park side, but ours isnt and the view in the other direction is a bit depressing. Small rooms but clean and comfortable
