“Great Price, helpful front desk, perfect area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2011

I highly recommend this hotel for the budget oriented tourist. Not the most modern amenities but the hotel is located near the tube, very clean, and the front desk staff was very helpful when asking questions on the local community. Lots of steep steps which after a long flight and dragging a heavy bag on the tube can be quite cumbersome.

The only odd thing was having to turn in your key everytime you left the hotel, which I assume is for security purposes. After 5 PM you must pick up your key at the neighboring Phoenix Hotel. All in all I will stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: The upper rooms in the summertime will be quite hot.

The room was nice, the front staff of this hotel was nice but this is an annex of the Phoenix Hotel a few doors away and the staff there treat it as a poor cousin. I believe the rooms are cheaper than in the main hotel but that should reflect the distance to the public rooms and the lack of elevator and not mean poor service. My main beef was that there was no wifi in this section of the hotel. So if you check your email, work or use your devises to find a good restaurant in the area, you have to run down the street to the main hotel and enter in a complex user/password combination. We stayed 7 nights, so you can image how many times I had to do this. I saw people with their work spread out in the lounge for hours and skypeing in the lobby isn't fun. The front staff knew about it and their reaction varied from being bored by the question to saying it would be looking into and finally, at the end of the stay, just admitting that there never would be wifi at that part of the hotel. Really too bad since a simple router would correct the problem, but I won't stay again because of it.

It is in a brilliant location, near the underground station and the hop on and off bus. The room was great, clean and homely. The lady who looks after the guests knew everything you could need to know about London and was lovely to chat to. I would highly recommend staying here, great value for money

This is a simple, sort of old hotel but good for basics and those on a low budget. The toilet is shared (so outside your room), and before about 8am and after 6pm there is no one at reception so you have to hand in your keys to the sister hotel next door when you leave, then pick them up when you come back so you be let in. For a solo traveller, this may not be the best hotel, because it got a bit scary at night. However, this area in Baywater is quite lively and I never felt threatened or anything. The receptionist was very nice, and was always willing to help and offer tips about what to look out for in London. The single room I stayed in was small and a little cramped but for the price it was good enough. Location is very good, short walk to Bayswater and Queensway station, and there are buses very near too. Also lots of shops and places to eat along Queensway, which is pretty much a short stroll from the hotel.

The lady at the reception was very nice, friendly and helpful! The hotel is walking distance from Bayswater tube station and is located on a quiet little square. The area is very convenient with cafes and restaurants. The room is clean and tidy. The breakfast is served at the sister hotel just next door. Charming staff, good location and clean room, I'd definitely come back when in London.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2011

I stayed here on my last night in London, and chose it because of its affordable cost and proximity to the center of London. Many other hotels are FAR more expensive that this, but this was really all i needed. If you have a lot of luggage, it may be tricky, as the room was not very large, but it was the perfect size for me and my large suitcase. There is also a place to store your clothes, and a gorgeous and CLEAN bathroom. The owner was very friendly and helpful, giving me directions everywhere I needed, and there is 24-hour help available next door at their sister hotel. They even let me use a US electricity adaptor, AND there is free Wi-Fi. The only downside was having to lug my stuff up four flights, as there is no lift. Worth it, though!

Room Tip: Try to ask for a first or second floor room so you don't have to deal with all your luggage!
