“Great Customer Care By Mr Kas”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I am surprised at some of the reviews on here, but this is my personal experience. I use hotel rooms at least 4 times a week all around the country and abroad, I also hold the 2nd highest professional qualifications in the hotel industry (MHCIMA) so I know the industry tricks and practice. I arrived at this hotel very tired at about 6:30am only to find that there was an error on my part by booking the wrong date via Trivalgo. Most hotels will give you the due duelligence conversation and either send you on your way or try and make you pay through the nose for a fresh booking. Mr Kas was very helpful, explained my options and consented to a change of date to trivalgo (most places wont unless you pay a high fee). Between Mr Kas and the morning manager they managed to allocate me a room so i could get the much needed sleep(again most hotels will want to capitalise on your predicaments knowing that you tired and will charge you early checking fees which these guys did not ). The room although no windows is very very adequate with a duct for constant fresh air so that was not even an issue. The ONLY problem i have with my stay was the parking fee but in the end i did not mind paying it because of the overall service and care I had received from both reception managers! Whilst things will always go wrong, I wish other hotels could learn how to deal with customer like the staff of this hotel did WELL DONE GUYS!

Room Tip: be nice to the reception guys

Just got back from staying at this Hotel, will not be going back in a hurry. First room allocated to us (502), was not an Executive Suite as booked, no heating as radiator was leaking, mould on windows, curtains did not fit, there was only 1 curtain at window (not a pair). bedside furniture had wobbly legs, which moved. Was given another room (514) which was slighty better, except for the large crack in bathroom basin and there was water seeping through the floor tiles. Hair dryer was non-existant. Carvery was diabolical, not as advertised. (Was not a Carvery).

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

Have stayed here on quite a few occasions for the price and location.
For a 3star hotel doubt if you would find cheaper in London.
Staff could do with some basic customer service training rather than the blank expressions when asked simple questions or enquires.
Found its best to book with online sites rather than direct with the britannia reservations as they are more expensive and their 'best price guarantee' has t&cs that are questionable??
Agree with other reviewers that the place is dated and in need of a makeover, but then that would no doubt push the prices up.
Would be nice to get some feed back on the reviews from the hotel management, but the present manager obviously doesn't, unlike the previous manager.

Room Tip: Ones with windows!! The basement rooms are windowless

I've stayed in worse hotels but I can't quite remember when. The staff are pleasant and polite but don't seem committed to ensuring every visitor has a good stay. The whole hotel is tired and needs a thorough revamp. Room 417 had uncomfortable beds and the single glazed window meant you could herald the traffic and conversations in the street four stories below. The bath has white patches where they've tried to re- enamel it and looks a mess and the sink has a huge cracked poorly repaired. The quality of the towels is poor. There is an 'All You Can Eat' Buffet for breakfast. They have a plate of about 30 Fried Eggs which have all turned to rubber under the heat lamps. There was never enough glasses for the fruit juice and cups for coffee were scarce. Had breakfast twice and had to go hunting for cups on other tables as where we were sat didn't have any. Mind you, the coffee wasn't that great either. £10 per 24hrs parking is relatively reasonable and you do get free Wi-Fi which is nice. We were a party of blokes down for the rugby so we weren't particularly fussy about where we stayed but I don't think we would rush back here next time.

A reasonable price to stay in Canden but for £100 per head for one night it was a little disappointing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but the room and surroundings were tired and out dated. The flickering light fitting in our corridor created a 'horror movie' feel to the stay which was quite apt for the last weekend in October. Prior to leaving we experienced a breakfast that was plentiful but under heated and the tea in the urn was nothing but a pathetic tea bag in a full urn- un drinkable . Not happy to have to drive a four hour trip without a decent cuppa on board. But I. Must say again great staff and if I had of complained they probably would have made me a cup of tea.

Many thanks for the review. We always welcome feedback and my team and I are glad that you overall enjoyed your stay with us.

I'm sorry that your stay was disappointing as a result of our restaurant food. I can assure you that the matter is being looked into and will be dealt with accordingly.

Kind regards,

Currently staying at the Britannia Hotel Hampstead. Want a nightmare. It would be quieter sleeping at Victoria train station in rush hour. A wedding party is currently going on with music blasting and the nice people at the hotel have decided to put us directly above the party room. Asked to be moved as the music is not due to finish until midnight but been refused. Window keeps banging and door also rattling. A good night sleep? I think not! Do not stay at this hotel if you are coming for a weekend break.
