Normally visit every year to eat German bratwurst and drink gluwein. This year was a complete disappointment, more like Banksy's Dismal land. Terrible atmosphere, no visitors, cheap looking wooden huts and no traditional German stalls.

I went to this food market THREE nights of the five that I was in London. I love the nighttime vibe of the Southbank, especially around Christmas time. There are plenty of artisan stalls along the southbank, lots of music and even carousal rides. The Southbank market was what I kept returning for - there are plenty (over 15) food stalls offering a variety of choices. There is also a Cider Lodge which is a great spot (and cutely decorated with Christmas lights) to grab a drink solo or with friends. It gets very busy with an after-work crowd around 5/6PM, which is fun.

What a disappointment..
We come every year, feels like the 'real start' to the festive season, but feel let down by the lack of participants this year..
There were about a dozen stalls at best, plus a food market selling the usual bratwurst and mulled wine, and variations there of..
Dont waste your time, head over to one of the bigger event, either in Hyde Park or Winterville in Victoria Park..
I would have given it a zero rating if I could.. 👀

We booked a couple of booths to see, La Soiree in Der Spiegeltent on the Southbank. There were 20 of us, mostly over 60. The booths were a bit of a squeeze but there was room to move around. What a fantastic show, a bit like a mini Cirque de Soleil merged with an ordinary circus. The acts were brilliant and the staff there were really on the ball. The atmosphere was great as were the six packs on both the men, and to a lesser extent, the women.
Go and see it while you can.
The Southbank was very busy on the mild evening that we went. There were plenty of eateries and drinking opportunities and people were generally having a good time. The Christmas market was good to look around with some interesting items on sale.

This venue is ideal for shows/concerts. It has variety of resturants and recently walked around the Christmas market. Great location and beautiful views of the london eye and big Ben etc lit up at night. Easily accessible by train/tube
