We had been recommended by friends to enjoy this restaurant near Marble Arch. Unfortunately it was not as reasonable or delicious as they had raved. It was a Sunday evening about 7 pm when we arrived for a nice dinner. Since it was Sunday roast day we chose the roast option, which although a bit pricey looked like a nice alternative to pub food. We were disappointed with the roast beef dinner. The beef appeared to have been sliced earlier and kept warm, as it had a dried out appearance even though it was medium rare... no juice. The potatoes were beautiful looking but rock hard. The only saving grace was a well prepared Yorkshire pudding.
Service was not great and we were surprised to see a 12.5% service charge added to the bill. Upon close inspection of the menu, it did say that a "discretionary service charge" would be added. We paid the bill, but felt taken advantage of. It certainly did not come close to our friends' experience.
