I ate at the hackney pearl late last year, the meat I was served was described as skirt but was inedible, I finished off the measly veg serving and asked for the bill, the waitress asked if everything was satisfactory, I explained but said I just wanted to go, a manager arrived and went onto deliver a patronising diatribe about skirt! And offered me an ice cream!! The whole experience as pretentious and the food awful, the waitress was charming.

One of my favourite places to eat. Nestled away in Hackney Wick, you have to make an effort to get there if you're not a local but, boy, is it worth it. The food is always creative and unusual, with fresh ingredients and wonderful combinations and the decor and atmosphere is relaxed and easy. You often see people with their laptops working away and it's also a great places for informal meetings. Last time I was there, I had a delicious celeriac and roasted hazelnut soup and a terrine of rabbit and pork with armagnac soaked prunes. It certainly hit the spot. Sunday roasts are utterly divine. Well worth a visit and you'll keep coming back. Trust me.

Cute little restaurant. Ate with friends on a Friday night. Delicious seasonal menu but they were a bit mean with the veg which always seems unnecessary. Veg is cheap so bulk plates up with it! Good ice cream for desert and a decent wine selection. Not suitable for large groups because of the size of place.

Everything about this little gem is good. Simple and healthy menu, kind staff, seats outside and nice ambience inside. Good vibe, relaxing and hipstery, not too trendy. Good and fresh food for a good price: main meal with a pint about 16£. Always veggie options available. Love it!
