“Great Indian food in a small neighbourhood outlet”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

This is a small restaurant that would be hard to find if you are not staying in the neighbourhood. Its not far from Wimbeldon and the Southfields Tube station. The menu is small but very authentic - at there twice. Four of us at very well for under 60 pounds. The carrot halva is a must for desert
Also recommend the prawn pumpkin, beetroot chicken, lamb chops, dhangri mutter --- the peshwari naan is excellent.

“Manage expectations”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Went to Triphal because we stayed in the area and of course due to the high TA rating. This is a small neighbourhood Indian restaurant that does a lot of take out business too.

The menu is not very big, but offers an adequate selection of Indian classics. What is nice is that they offer tandoori dishes in appetizer sizes, so that you can try more. All we had was good. Service was quick and friendly and prices are very reasonable.

However, the food was not special and not very different from your regular Indian restaurants in London or other cities / countries. So if you stay in the area and are looking for good, casual inexpensive Indian food, Triphal definitely is a good option. But if you are looking for really great Indian food and consider making a trip to SW London, don't bother, as you will be disappointed.

“Great food on a budget”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

Triphal is a delight- from it's small, well selected menu, it's great value and the ease of getting tables. I went in July 2014 and reserved a Saturday evening table for 4 that same Saturday lunchtime. Of the starters, the samosa and pakora were fresh and well made, with the Aloo Papari Chaat being the stand out. It's fresh, light and moreish.

The mains are of a good enough size to fill your stomach, but don't tip you over into the usual delhi-belly suffered after an Indian meal. The rice side orders are larger than expected, so I would recommend getting one less than usual. Of the mains, the aloo gobi tasted fresh and well seasoned- a great gobi- and the chicken tikka is delicious.

The highlight of the menu, though, is the pistachio kulfi ice. At £3.25 for 3 scoops, it's worth ordering for everyone.

In summary: classic indian dishes, cooked perfectly and priced reasonably with a great range of vegetarian choices.

“No secrets with Trip Advisor”

This restaurant is our local curry house; we've been regulars since it opened (and its predecessor Sarkhel's). I was wondering why it was becoming so difficult to get a table - one glance on TA made all clear. The reviews are all true. The menu is not extensive but all dishes are cooked to perfection. Their crispy squid is the best I've ever had. You won't be disappointed.

“Favourite London (SW18) curry!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Triphal has a delightful, unusual menu, with an owner and chef who really care about good quality, authentic, delicious cooking, Quite simply the best Aloo Gobi I've ever had, and the main course Paneer dish is a triumph. All the breads are divine, and the service is excellent and friendly. It's very small so do book if you're going on a weekend evening. Extremely good value too!
