“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 3 June 2012

The hotel is in a good location around the corner from Marble Arch tube station and Oxford St. I was upgraded to an executive room on the 1st floor which was very nice apart from the 2 single beds that were in the room. The room was quiet but I couldn't access the wifi and the staff on reception could help with it (although they tried). Breakfast was discounted and there was a huge variety on offer. The concierge was very helpful with our luggage and booked a car for us to the airport that was a fair bit cheaper than the cab we took there.

My sister and I stayed for two nights in May. The trip was a special one for the Palace Garden Party and we had asked for space to get ready. We were given a room on the top floor overlooking Hyde Park , with plenty of room and very comfortable beds. The location was great, we were able to walk down Oxford Street for the obligatory retail therapy and if we had wished to go further the Marble Arch tube station was next door!
Every hotel is made (or marred) by the calibre of its staff. The people we came into contact with at the Cumberland were universally pleasant and friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay special. We had an excellent breakfast in the restaurant and as a treat booked in for the outstanding tasting menu at Gary Rhodes restaurant which is in the hotel.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in central London and would like to record here our thanks to all the staff for their standard of service.

I have just arrived back from a long weekend trip (3 couples) in London staying at The Cumberland hotel. The location was absolutely perfect as it is directly on the corner of Oxford Street at Marble Arch. Less than 1 minute walk and you were on Oxford Street or in Hyde Park which was surprising since on the map it appears nearer to Bayswater and a 10 minutes walk takes you as far as Oxford Circus from where you can connect to anywhere you wish. (There is also a Big Red Bus stop at Marble Arch). The room was ideal for 2 people and iron and tea/coffee making facilties were available in room along with a hairdryer all conveniently located. I thought the breakfast price of GBP11.75 was a little extortionate until I saw the spread before me. Full english, cereal, toasts, tea/coffee, fruit juices and fruits were available - just around the corner is a cafe selling 1 PLATE of full english for GBP9.25 and so I changed my mind immediately - in the hotel, it's well worth the price. Everything was spotlessly clean - no complaints at all. Would definately return!!!!!

Room Tip: Request an outward facing room - if you have an inward (on 2nd floor and probably the 1st too), you...

This was my second stay at the Cumberland Hotel. My husband and I recently stayed for five nights at the Hotel. On check in we were given the option to upgrade our prebooked room. Initially we said no, but were give the option to view both rooms. Needless to say, we took the upgrade.
Our chosen room had a corner window looking up Oxford Street. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows would be the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel.
The bathroom was quite spacious too. The shower was great though a little awkward to turn on/off...... There was a heated towel rail which was handy.
The bedroom had a built in iron/board which folded down from a cupboard. Tea and coffee making available too.

Our package had breakfast included. This is served in the restaurant on the lower ground floor. A huge dining room which could be chaotic. Plenty of choice, no reason at all to leave hungry. Because of the business of the restaurant, often tables would be missing a spoon or knife etc, the staff were always rushed off their feet but most obliging if asked for anything.
We didn't eat in any of the other restaurants available.

Check in was very efficient, the concierge most helpful and the doormen also very pleasant and helpful. This is a very large and busy hotel but still felt comfortable.

Great location, very close to Marble Arch Tube station, Hyde Park across the road and buses a dime a dozen up Oxford Street. It is also easy to catch the Hop on/Off bus tour from across the road on Park Lane.

We would be more than happy to stay at The Cumberland in the future.

NOTE: if you take the time to explore streets behind the hotel (out the front door and turn right, go to the end of the street and take either left or right) you will discover much more than Oxford Street. Lovely little shops, restaurants and a Laundromat (Seymour Street) Take a map and go explore, enjoy !!

Room Tip: If offered an upgrade, ask to view both rooms.

We arrived by taxi from Kings Cross and whilst we were waiting to pay the taxi driver the porter opened the car door for us and took the cases out, we were given a ticket and advised that if we handed this to the reception then our suitcases would be delivered to the room. (it gives you the indication of the standard that you are going to get) Suitcases were delivered very soon after

Checking in took a little while as in all fairness there are over a 1000 rooms, room was very comfortable though it looks in the quadrangle which is all white bricks, (if you upgrade to an executive room you will get views) you get used to it after a while. Shower as in previous reviews you need a very long arm to turn on with.

Breakfast the next morning was very very good, more than enouch choice of dishes to satisfy all. Omelette can be cooked to order and you can choose from a number of fillings, very nice.

There is a Sainburys when you come out the hotel, turn left and cross the road the top, it is on the right next to the Underground so you can nip in and stock up on anything that you might have forgotten.

Ice machine is next to the lift on the fourth floor, don't know where the other ones are.

On our last day the cases were able to be left with the Concierge for which we had a receipt so that we were able to explore London, on coming back to the hotel the porter noticed the receipt this and said that "I will take care of that for you" to which he did, hailed a taxi and put the luggage in the taxi for us.

Location is superb for transport, just over the road at the top of Park Lane is all the bus stops for trips in to town.

Would I come back again and the answer would be yes, it's not cheap but then the service as above and the location is top notch.

This is a really nice hotel, comfortable. The rooms are nicely appointed, and the bathroom remodels are beautiful. Stayed in from 2085... it was on the east side of the hotel facing a pedestrian area. VERY NOISY pub right beneath our window. Was hard to sleep. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland and would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel has a good location. The tein room is very small so I chose to stay at the executive family room. The bed is not firm. The executive lounge is on the ground floor and not very large. The drinks are pretty helpful after a long day though it can be rather crowded. It is worth it to get an upgrade for the internet access and the drinks at the lounge with beers, sodas and coffees and wines and canapes. Simple breakfast like danish and small breads help to start the day. The breakfast at the ground floor is good and the one at the basement seems to be very cafeteria. This is London so my expectation is not high and it helped during the stay. A busy hotel so do not expect personal and warm service. Lifts are very busy during the mornings so you may need to wait for sometime

Room Tip: .Get the executive family roo for comfort.
