The Berjaya Hotel is well located in Paddington, the subway is 2 minutes away and in the next street there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The room was clean, and so was the recently reformed bathroom, but both are very small, but this is London, you can´t expect more than this at this price. Not a bad option anyway.

Dear Bidaiari77,

Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. Indeed, most of our guests find the hotel location very convenient and we are glad to read you did too.
On the other hand, we regret that you were not entirely happy with the size of your room. Some of our rooms vary slightly in size and a larger room can sometimes be provided upon request.
Once again, thank you for staying with us and we hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards,

The Management Team

The exterior gives a promise of a swish establishment but the inside of the hotel is tired and shabby. I was given a triple room but had to be moved as the room reeked of cigarette smoke. I thought it was illegal to smoke in hotels now? The second room was tiny and very hot with no way of reducing the heating apart from opening the window which made it very noisy. Breakfast service was slow although the food was ok.

Stayed for 2 nights at what we thought was a relatively high end establishment.Booking online the rates seemed pretty good for the area of London and the photos of the hotel and rooms swung us from booking elsewhere.
The exterior of this hotel just looks splendid.Very grand and opulent, and the same atmosphere hits you as you enter reception.Warm and welcoming and that same ethos exuded from the very inviting and friendly staff. The actual check in took less than a couple of minutes. As my partner was doing the formalities i took a minute just to check the bar and restaurant area immediately opposite.I was quite impressed and thankful we had decided to book here.

That's where the excitement ended unfortunately. We made our way through the door to the rooms and it just didn't look good. This is a jekyl & Hyde hotel. Two totally different looks. The amazing facade on the outside and the rather dated decor inside.Although there are signs telling you the route to your room it took us ages to actually find it in the myriad of corridors and doors that twist and turn like a maze. Not a good layout if you have plenty of baggage especially with a number of staircases.
Once we eventually found our room,we felt deflated. On arrival we were on a high, but now totally disappointed,i'd even go as far as feeling cheated. It's so disparate how the hotel is advertised online and yet the product you receive is a far cry from what you expect. Our double room was nothing to shout about all considering. The bed looked like something from a cheap Travelodge.A mattress quite thin the floor looked more comfortable. The carpet was blue and aged with a not so very nice stain as clear as day.The walls were a very dull colour with black scuff marks. There were 3 lights in the room, two above the bed and the main ceiling light but even with all 3 on it was still quite drab. There was a desk and chair which looked pretty decent with the usual kettle and sundries plus a hair dryer on the wall. The room could have been supplied with a few more extras other than a few coffee sachets and teabags. The wardrobe had plenty of space with a safe at the bottom.
Now when i see a room advertised as having a tv i expect to have a tv.What we had was a black box on the wall which worked for one night, for the hour or so we watched it,and not the next.I came to see it as just a piece of modern art, hanging there, silent.Maybe something Tracey Emin might throw up on a wall.
As for the bathroom...grief.Firstly there was a step-up into the bathroom. Not the best of situations when you come back from a good night out.The toilet bowl had a crack along the rim.The toilet seat was loose. The toilet refused to flush after one use until we figured out that the handle needed to be used in a certain way.The floor tiles were loose and uneven. The heated towel rail didn't work at all.And the shower, well it worked fine.We got some luke warm water out of it a couple of times but after that nothing.I've had more hot water in the middle of nowhere camping in Wales.A couple of tiny bottles of shampoo and shower gel and a soap topped it off.
Now for the £240 i paid for 2 nights it was an abysmal place.Like a magician's sleight of hand...now you see it,now you don't.Looks are obviously deceiving in this case.I know £240 isn't much for 2 nights in London, but you should get what you pay for and what is advertised. We did not.
We should have decided to find another hotel but as late as it was by the time we checked in,and for the amount of time we'd be spending at the hotel, very little,we thought we just might as well rough it.
BUT,besides that the staff were great. And i certainly do not portion blame on them.

Would i RECOMMEND this hotel, definitely NOT.Don't waste your time viewing it or waste money booking it.

Room Tip: If anyone can find a 'good' room in this hotel please let me know.I'd like to think at l...

Very small, no frills, garden view terrace room desperately in need of redecoration especially the windows in the very small bathroom.
Felt quite scared at the lack of security (perhaps perceived) as the room window/ french window did not appear to be very secure and faced directly into an internal small garden area. No lock on the windows. However the room provided a safe.
Breakfast was excellent.
Staff were very polite and helpful and i was helped to my room with my bags.

I stayed with my partner for 5 nights and we had a very long flight so we ordered room service the minute we got to our room. The food was TERRIBLE. I'm a fussy eater but my partner usually eats anything and everything but even he couldn't finish his meal despite his hunger! It was quite expensive too but we were far too tired to argue. Our room was on the lower floor and was right next to the sidewalk so we could hear cars and people talking constantly. It really bothered me that people walking on the sidewalk could look into our window and see everything. The hotel was quite dated and a little on the shabby side.
The staff didn't help us with our bags. My partner and I both had very large, heavy bags but staff did not attempt to help us. The elevator was old and wasn't working half the time so carrying the luggage UP the stairs at checkout was a real pain. The only good thing is that it is quite close to two different underground stations which made it quite convenient to get around. I probably wouldn't stay here again though.

Six of us stayed for one night for an evening event in Town.

I'll cut to the chase. Outside, it looks fabulous, very Poirot. Inside, the decor in the communal rooms has the makings but.....wait !
1. Everything is just too cramped - taken a large London Town house and carved it up mercilessly.

2. I had a deluxe room, which means I could fit into the bed. My friends faired much worse.

3. Rooms cramped, bedrooms tired, dining area possibly small and overheated. Good thing McDonalds was around the corner.

4. London prices but a grim experience.

We chose this hotel primarily for its location to Bayswater. Travel was easy as the subway was just around the corner; and there were many restaurants nearby. We got a room on the upper floor- and the older wing. As we were travelling with 2 toddlers, our room was made up of 2 interconnecting standard rooms. It was a little cramped but this was expected in London. However, the bathroom was tiny. My 6- footer husband had difficulties showering! No toiletries except a small bar of soap.
The corridors leading to the rooms were narrow and the hotel was built in such a way that there were multiple split levels. Not good for wheelchairs or strollers.
Cleanliness was only satisfactory- there were occasions where the cleaning ladies had forgotten our garbage after room service. Furniture dated. Aircon worked well.
My parents got a room in the newly refurbished part of the hotel with new fixtures and furniture. The bathroom was much bigger there.
Overall Berjaya Eden Park is an average hotel with very good location. May stay elsewhere on next trip.
