“Afternoon tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

My son's paid for us all to have afternoon tea here on my first trip to London and can I say we were not disappointed. They have it so write. The atmosphere is very relaxing and staff make you feel special. There are so many choices of tea to choose from and plenty of it. They are many sandwiches, scones and plenty of cakes to choose from.

Wow. This is one great experience. I cannot think of much to say other than faultless. Incredibly polite, cheerful and friendly staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble.

Spotlessly clean room with the most comfortable bed. The attention to detail in terms of cleanliness goes throughout the entire hotel. The toilets are just faultless

Breakfast, we were spoilt for choice, with everything and anything you could wish for

This hotel is a credit to J W Marriott and also a credit to London. It is just so right on all levels

Fabulous

We arrived From LAX and the front desk staff were very accommodating. (Btw take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and then a cab to the hotel, save time as the traffic is horrible!) we had a great room and since the concierge lounge was being renovated they gave us breakfast coupons for the restaurant and also set up breakfast for elite members which was terrific! The concierge desk is great and we also got a lot of insight from our servers. Rooms are fine, beds great, smaller but that is Europe, bathrooms are well appointed. Easy to get everywhere and we used the tube or walked. Very happy they had umbrellas in the room! Rained everyday. All in all we would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. Every member of staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly or courteous from housekeeping to the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. We upgraded our room for a better view and couldn't fault the cleanliness or comfort/luxury. The location was perfect, right opposite the beautiful Hyde Park and close to the open top tourist buses. Congratulation Marriott, can't wait to come back

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor and not overlooking the air conditioning units.

Having lived in Dubai for almost 10 years now, you get so spoiled with luxury hotels (among other things). So when you experience accommodation in Europe you automatically adjust your expectations (I mean lower them). The GH is a solid exception. The place makes it difficult not to like it. The rooms, amenities, breakfast, bars and service is impeccable. Not all the rooms have great views (an unfortunate possibility in any hotel in Europe) however if you use your curtains wisely, you'll enjoy your room.
I was there on business so I got to experience their service from that mindset as well. Again, spotless. The experience is quite expensive ($400 plus) so be ready to shell out some green to be admitted.
The only downside is the following: after 10 pm, I would not feel comfortable if my girlfriend/fiance/wife sits alone on one of the public areas to enjoy a coffee/drink. The majority of the clientele at that time seems to be gentlemen hanging there...staring at others. You get my gist.
All in all, quality is exceptional. However if you'll dig into your savings to stay there....you might want to consider other options that balance value and experience.

What a wonderful place to stay in London, centrally located across from Hyde Park and close to Buckingham Palace. The staff are so courteous and the accommodations are top rate. The JW Steak House in the hotel has excellent food. I highly recommend this hotel!

A special treat for our anniversary weekend. Fabulous hotel, beautiful rooms, great service. Its location is ideal for shopping in Oxford St and access to Hyde Park and the Serpentine. As we were dining elsewhere we didn't get chance to try the restaurants.
