We expected to be overcharged and ripped off as Americans in London, but I guess we didn't expect it to be so extreme! The location was certainly good for this hotel for walking around to all the touristy London things. But I have never been in such a small hotel room...not even my college dorm room was this small! It almost felt like we were camping with our luggage shoved next to our bed and us having to crawl over it to walk to the bathroom or exit the room. And I felt like the staff was subly trying to up-sell us on everything. At least there was free wifi.....and as another review on here said, there is a weird bright blue light that stays on in the bathroom all night. It's not a nice feature that could be helpful as a nightlight...it was jarringly bright.

Make sure you are given the deal you booked! On our booking we expected their published offer of full English breakfast & 2 glasses of champagne - the receptionist did not have this on her record although we did.
To be fair to the hotel management they have since written and apologised and offered us a free bottle of bubbly on our next stay, which is a great service response.
The hotel is in great condition and all of the facilities were excellent, as was the food. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge who helped us with advice on our Buck House tour. A nice touch to our Friday theatre evening was to come back to the Rubens & have a drink whilst listening to an excellent singer pianist in the lounge!
We will be back...............

Very expensive to American visitors even with the special rate and even for a business trip. Smallish room- which I expect in Europe- but price was around $400 pn.I think I was paying for location.

I based my stay partly on good ratings here- I thought this would be a luxury hotel. It's fine but certainly not a luxury place.

Room Tip: You can probably find a better deal

We stayed here in August, 2011. Walked from Victoria Train Station in about 10 minutes. Excellent location. We were greeted by the doorman who helped us in with our luggage. Everyone greeted us with a warm & friendly smile. This was perfect after a long flight & our 1st visit away from the U.S. Our room was right above the entrance & directly across from The Palace. We loved it! We had a delicious dinner at "The Carvery" We were able to walk to Hyde Park, Harrods, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben & Trafalgar Square. We will definately stay here on any return to London.

The hotel is nice, specially on the refurbished rooms, the only missing item is the mini bar. The location is fantastic, walking distance from green, stwart and hide park and in the buckingham's backyard. The service is fantastic, and Roman was specially kind, thank you!

We arrived during a downpour to a very friendly welcome and check in. Hotel is quite posh but welcome was very down to earth and friendly. The hotel is in a fantastic location, quite literally spitting distance to Buckingham Palace. Lift to upper floors is very small so one couple and a suitcase and its full!
We stayed on the 4th floor in a Superior king and the room although very small was dominated by the bed which was v large and very comfy. The bathroom was small as well but ha everything you needed including bath and brilliant shower. The hotel was very quiet so we had a great nights sleep and the breakfast next morning was very good. If you pay at reception you can get a special rate of £12 each for full English.
All in all i would definately stay again as the service was very attentive and polite without being obtrusive.

Room Tip: Pay at check in for a special rate for full English breakfast at a bargain rate of £12 pp
