A classic, lovely hotel just across the street from the Buckingham Palace Mews. The cavalry theme in the lounge was steeped in tradition, where you hear the drums, bugles, horses, and men of the classic battles and units pictured on the walls. And the staff was incredible, from the waiters in the lounge to the bell staff to the shift managers. I remember most fondly the welcome and service I received from Gloria when I first arrived, most appreciated after the long transatlantic flight. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.

We stayed here with friends for one night and had the very best time. We were treated like Royalty. Having checked in we were greeted by Martha who was lovely and told us to contact her for any needs. On entering our beautifully decorated room there was a hand written welcome letter, from Martha and the most delicious home made biscuits. We had a private reception for 10 with the most amazing canopes. On returning to the Rubens after Dinner, a rather rowdy crowd, we went into the lounge for drinks where a wonderful pianist played and was happy for us to sing along (loudly) and play requests! Breakfast was wonderful. Top, top hotel. Love it.

Mum and I came up for an overnight theatre break. Superb welcome from the moment the cab pulled up, staff all friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room comfortable, all usual supplies you would expect in a four star hotel.
Great location, we walked everywhere but tube is very near. Short stroll to the palace and St James park. About 15 mins walk to Big Ben and the river. We also walked to Covent Garden. All easy.
We went to see Wicked and this was literally a five minute walk and worth every step.
Breakfast was superb with excellent buffet choice of hot and cold food with table service if required. The hotel clearly had lots of returning guests a good sign anywhere. As first timers they could not do enough for us and the staff are the hotels biggest strength. We shall return.

My daughter and I stayed here this week for her first experience of a London Show. From the moment we approached the front door, we were received with warm, interested and professional staff who helped us to have the most wonderful stay. However, the real winner was the attention to detail and personal touches that they undertook to ensure that this visit was special for both of us. Thank you so much to all the team at The Rubens. We can't wait to come back and stay with you again.

Decided to take a short break to celebrate my partners birthday and my nephews promotion and took advantage of the excellent rate offered by this hotel. Thank goodness I made that decision.
We arrived at the hotel and were met at the taxi by the excellent door man. When checking in we were asked why we were making this trip and when I explained my partner was offered a hearty Happy Birthday by all the staff on the desk. Very easy check in and was given room 213. What a fantastic room, beautifully kept and furnished and directly opposite the entrance to the Royal Mews. 10 minutes after arrival a birthday card was pushed under the door and what a wonderful touch that was.
During our stay in this wonderful hotel nothing was too much trouble, great breakfast and whenever we needed a taxi the doorman was able to muster one straight away.
When we met up with my Nephew and his partner in the Leopard Bar, the bar an overheard what we were celebrating the the next thing we know a complimentary champaign cocktail arrived for both of them, again what a great touch.
Very easy check out and a assured the front desk staff that we will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we visit London ( end of May )
I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a great central location and the friendliest staff I have met in a London hotel
Thank you to everybody who made this trip special .

Stayed with my wife and 20 month old son for short city break. Hotel was absolutely faultless. Location allowed us to walk to all the major attractions and 5 minutes from the Victoria-Gatwick Express. The room was spacious even with a cot and the bed very large and comfortable although no view but spent all day out and about anyway. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice. The highlight however are the staff who cannot do enough for you and made our stay memorable. I would expect to return to Rubens for future visits to London.

I stayed here with my wife on a theatre trip prior to a trip to Venice on the Orient Express. We were very impressed from the moment we arrived with the friendly reception we received. Our room was nicely spacious with an excellent view over the Royal Mews. Good tea and coffee making facilities and the first hotel I have been in that had real coffee and a cafetiere as part of this facility. We were a five minute walk from the front of Buckingham Palace and St James Park and had time to enjoy a nice walk here prior to our pre-theatre dinner in the BBar restaurant next door (see separate review). The bathroom facilities were very good with a suitable supply of nice toiletries, gowns, slippers and towels. The only fault we could find was that the shower riser rail did not suit the type of shower spray and this had to balanced and angled so that it did not spray all over the floor. This was the only fault we found in our whole stay. We had a very comfortable and quiet night and the most excellent breakfast. While primarily a buffet style the eggs were all freshly cooked to order and our poached eggs were done to perfection. Service was excellent throughout with just the right level of attention. It was not intrusive but there was always someone there if you required. The concierge and reception staff were thoroughly on the ball with obtaining taxis and making sure that we benefitted from a free glass of champagne with our dinner. An Ideal location with excellent service and we will certainly be back.
