“Beyond amazing, The Rubens at the Palace London”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

We spent three nights at the Rubens at the Palace London. This is a hotel that is listed as 4 star, but in our opinion it is 6 star! Everything beautiful and perfect. Wonderful service that exceeded our expectations! They do everything and anything to be helpful. The concierge desk and the doorman are so helpful, I have never stayed anywhere that is better, not even the Ritz Carlton. Rooms beautiful and clean. Hop bus right outside of hotel, and walk to Buckingham Palace. Food is great. Everything central. When we wanted to go out for tea, they suggested Fortnum and Mason, it was perfect. Everything they arranged was amazing. Don't forget the B-Bar next door, amazing salmon burgers, angus burgers and everything else! Get the rice pudding with salted caramel sauce, it is so good! We will be back as soon as possible. Did not want to leave! Right Across from Royal Mews, saw horses and carriages! We had a Jr. Suite and was very roomy. Stay at the Rubens next time, this is an unexpected find that is beyond anything else!

My wife and I booked a Superior Room at the Rubens as we had invitations to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on 21st May. The booking was made several months ago and I had mentioned that in the last three weeks we were also celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary and my 50th Birthday at around the same time. What we did not expect to receive was an upgrade to the Kings Suite ....wow just look at the description on the . The service from all staff was efficient and personal. nothing was too much trouble and they remembered your name and even asked how are day was at the Garden Party. The cheesecake in the room with a chocolate 'Happy 25th wedding anniversary' on the rim of the plate was delightful. We ate in the Library Restaurant and the food was of a high standard , as was the breakfast. Congratulations to the Rubens for turning very special occasion into an exceptional one that we will never forget!

My husband and I just came back from our Europe trip few days ago. And we both agree that The Rubens at the Palace hotel in London has it all. The staff were very friendly, they genuinely want to help and look after you. The breakfast were excellent. And the room was nice. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who will travel to London. (We stayed there on 5 May to 9 May 2014).

This is a great hotel in a good location in central London. It is within easy reach of all the major sites, it is clean comfortable and quiet.. We thought it was good value for money having booked their weekend special and to top it all there is a good London pub just over the road.
If you are going to London you there are few hotels of such a standard that are available for such a reasonable price..

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. It was my birthday treat and I was surprised to find a plate of 5 Belgian truffles with "Happy Birthday" piped in chocolate on the plate. The staff were courteous and attentive and we felt at home in this lovely hotel. The hotel is ideally situated and we didn't need to use the Tube. The only thing we feel was unsatisfactory was that the duvet was too small for the bed.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as part of our Ruby Wedding celebrations. We stayed for 2 nights booked through "secret escapes" and it was excellent value. Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful, professional and they all made us feel welcome and special. We arrived early and as the room was ready we were able to go to the room straight away. The room,215, was lovely; a good size, very clean, very comfortable bed, great bathroom with bath and shower, good toiletries, air conditioning worked well and a great view of the Royal Mews. The hotel is in a great location so close to Buckingham palace. We walked to Covent Garden and passed many attractions on the way.
The food and service in the restaurants was fantastic. Everything you could want at breakfast with eggs cooked to order and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had the 3 course meal in the evening and that was delicious. we also got a cake with Happy Anniversary iced and 2 complimentary cocktails, very much appreciated. In conclusion the Rubens has it all; Great location, rooms, food and above all - great staff

We were visiting friends and stayed here so we could mix it with other London attractions and the position was perfect.

The stay did not start well with a terrible double room on the first floor, which was far too small and really dark as it literally had a wall outside the window. However, after complaining we were moved to a much brighter room on the second floor and it is worth requesting this when you book (room 230 is good as it does not face a main road). The room was light, bright and very clean.

The breakfast service was mostly very good with the exception of only one member of older female staff who was grumpy, unhelpful and unfriendly (she really needs to consider a career change as we didn't even get a 'good morning' from her).

We had one meal at the hotel, which was in the main restaurant and included in our deal, it was perfectly ok.

We stayed for the location and for that it was perfect.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor or above not facing main road.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your stay with us most recently. I am so sorry to read that your stay started on the wrong note. However, I am very pleased that my team was able to find a room more to your liking. I am grateful that we had the opportunity to rectify this whilst you was staying.

I have taken your comments back to my restaurant manager and he was most concerned to read your comments. He will make sure to rectify this as I definitely agree that our normal standards are friendly and helpful staff. I am sorry that we have failed you on this occasion.

I am happy to read that you enjoyed our location. We are indeed in a lovely area and very conveniently located near to theatres and some good tourist attractions. I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.
Thank you again for your time.

Warmest Regards,

Malcolm Hendry
