“Extremely Polished And Attentive a Hotel”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We arrived having booked last minute for a one night stay.

The welcome, check in, service was quite outstanding.

We were on a b&b package. The dining room was stunning as was the breakfast a vast selection and a fine display and impeccable service. One of the nicest buffets and seamless service teams I've experienced, well done.

We had a problem during our stay and it has to be said how professionally it was dealt with. It showed catagoricalky how seriously they care and it's a rarity to find a company these days who are prepared to recognise a problem and go the extra mile .

The bar service and food was outstanding and attentive.

We will be using this Company Carnation Hotels again when we
Visit London.

Thank you especially Joanne and The Front Desk Team. Your professionalism and care was very much appreciated indeed.

A few blocks up from Victoria Station and a few blocks to Buckingham Palace. GREAT location. Easy to walk to many nice restaurants and just wonderful staff; esp the bell men and concierge. They recommended three nice restaurants! Santini was GREAT!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by friendly, helpful and courteous staff, such a credit to the hotel chain. One young girl in the Cavalry bar told it was her first day. Rebecca , You would never of guessed she was as confident but professional as the other staff members Our room was very well decorated, furniture slightly too large for room but we were still comfortable with amazing air conditioning. Food was tremendous in the library, almost on par with Michelin star, the cavalry bar was excellent and also the afternoon tea. Breakfast was an experiance with so much choice. The hotel is superb , run efficiently with splendid staff. Thank you Rubens!

I stayed just for one night a single traveller. I was made to feel very welcome the reception staff were lovely. The room was one of largest single rooms I have stayed in. The breakfast whilst an extra, was plenty of choice and again staff happy to please. It was very busy but despite this I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. Great location just 5 minutes walk from Victoria station and the back of Buckingham Palace.

We have spent a wonderful few days at the Rubens Hotel. Upon arrival check in was swift and hassle free we were dealt with on a pleasant and efficient manner. Our room was very nice and well furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries. On our first evening we ate in the Library, the service was excellent and the food wonderful with regard to presentation and quality. Breakfasts are buffet style and all needs are well catered for. On our first day we were served by a new member of staff Rebecca who was helpful and very pleasant. All of the staff at the Rubens are well mannered, courteous and pleasant, the same cannot be said for a minority of fellow guests who seemed to pack away their manners when they unpack their luggage and take on rude arrogant and superior attitude. We could thoroughly recommend the Rubens at the Palace.

We stayed at the Rubens last year and really enjoyed it. So this year, when cruising from Southampton we added time in London before and after the cruise. We enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We've had 3 different rooms and they are all very different. We did the Superior King room which gave us a little extra room which is helpful in London. The water pressure in the showers was excellent and I loved the great robes in the room.

Breakfast was included during our visit and while I would not pay the high cost of breakfast at the hotel (and I like to explore restaurants in the area) this time we did use it and it was well done.

The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. You cannot beat the location. We were able to walk all over London from this hotel and rarely needed to use the tube but when you did need it Victoria station is just down the road.

This is our go to hotel in London and we'll continue to keep staying here when we visit.

Room Tip: Get a superior king room to give a little extra space. Rooms in the back sometimes have truck noise...

We stayed for 8 nights in the apartments offered by Rubens at the palace. We traveled with our 4 children, my husband and myself, and my inlaws. We needed the space and the apartments were the perfect option. They were a few blocks from the actual hotel, but still close enough to walk there when we needed the concierge. Here are some pros and cons:

Apartment space was great
Loved having a washer/dryer
Clean and neat
Ability to eat in the room on the days the kids were exhausted
Great location- close to so much

Hotel restaurant wasn't easily accessible
Only one toilet in the 2 bedroom apt.
Keys were a nightmare to use- three of them to get into the apartment and none of them ever worked the first time
Food in London is just ok- my poor kids just wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and a lemonade without carbonation-although this has nothing to do with the Rubens.

Overall, if we return to London we would stay there again. Great time! Thanks Rubens!
