Nicely appointed rooms - unfortunately only with single window-glazing (in the bathroom) with mould, rust and constant condensation on the walls. Probably the worst hotel bed I've slept in in the last ten years.
When asking to exted my check-out time for the next day, I was told that this would be GBP 25.-- extra (which I didn't mind) but that I had to re-confirm my request the next morning (!), which I did on my second trip to reception for that matter. Coming back to my 5th-floor room later in the day (well before the agreed check-out time) the key-card was not working any more. Back to reception and a ten minute wait in the queue for an update of the key-card. The extended check-out finally cost me the (expected) 25 Pounds, and altogether, at least half an hour of my precious time and endless, unnecessary walks in the hotel's corridors.
The cherry on the top: On check-out, the hotel "forgot" to deduct the value of a voucher, which I presented at check-in, from my bill. Yet another wait to get this thing rectified...
Melia, get your act together!

Our stay over New Year’s Eve can only be described as a bit of a rip off. Firstly they gave us the smallest corner room in the entire hotel, with two people we could hardly get around the bed, still OK, I suppose someone has to have it. Then they offered us a £15.00 payback offer per day, deductible off any drinks at the hotel, therefore £30 for the two days booked. When it came to paying the bill it turned out the offer was not as generous as it seemed. Because we took 2 glasses of Champaign on New Year’s Eve, they only gave us £15.00 off, as unbeknown to us you could not accumulate the offer over the two days. Nasty trick! Anyway I can live with that. I just find as a regular visitor to the Melia Hotels in Spain and England, which they have on record, they could be a little more generous to regular customers. Luckily, I still have the choice to which hotels I go back to, and I’m afraid the Melia group has seen me.
The Melia White House in London also has other problems, the decor is tired and need urgent refurbishment, the walls are so thin you can hear every word from the room next door (in our case very loud Spanish), the windows have single glazing and the noise from the street is clearly audible. Lovely Lobby and bar area but after all you can’t sleep in the lobby! Thank you Melia, it was nice while it lasted.

Room Tip: There are better Hotels at this Price in London.

Good quite place (most of the time) to hold meetings in Central London. Also could be a great bar to take your parents. Nice and relaxed. Great selection of Spirits. Food is ok, but could be better. Coffee average. Great service from the staff.

We were looking for a special night away without the children and having stayed at this hotel before knew that it had something to offer in terms of comfort, atmosphere and value for money. The emphasis being on ‘special’, we knew that this wasn’t going to be cheap, however what we got for slightly over £200 in a central London location was more than we could have imagined.

Location; This Hotel is so easy to get to. A short walk across Euston Road from Great Portland Street underground station our journey time from home in Bedford was just over an hour. Being on the Hamersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines it is just minutes from Kings Cross, St Pancras and Paddington main line stations.

Our Experience; We booked an executive room package which included a very comfortable en-suite room and entry to the Level Lounge which serves complimentary breakfast, tea, coffee, soft drinks, pastries, hot and cold canapés and best of all an open bar. All in very clean and tidy surroundings with attentive staff. We also enjoyed the convenience of private check in avoiding the queues at the main desk.

To conclude, we enjoyed a wonderful Friday evening and lazy Saturday morning in extremely comfortable surroundings looked after by some of the happiest staff we have ever encountered in large London hotels. A lot of the staff have worked at this hotel for many years for different companies and management, so this must speak volumes for the current owners. Nothing was too much trouble. This is also the hotel of choice for a number of visiting football teams who you can sometimes find yourself sharing the Level Lounge with. Whilst we might not choose to always splash out on the extra luxury of this particular break, previous more down to earth stays have been just as enjoyable, just done in a slightly different way and with less of a hangover. If you try it we hope you enjoy your break as much as we did!

I recently stayed with my girlfriend, so we could see London and go shopping. When we arrived the hotel staff were very helpful and the hotel looked impressive. We did not use many of the facilities, but the breakfast was of excellent quality! I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone who needs a good quality hotel with a good location to both the train station and the main tourist areas of London!

The rooms are just too small, even for UK standards. The noise of a dropped penny can be heard in your room so peaceful sleep might be difficult. Houskeeping was not the best and they were so noisy cleaning the rooms next to us and corridors. Staff at front desk and consierge were friendly and helpfull.
