“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The Melia White House is located in a good position, within easy reach of most amenities. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Our room was a classic double which was a bit on the small side and the bathroom was "compact" but adequate. The breakfast buffet was really good, a good variety and good quality food served. The cooked breakfast was particularly good. The staff were all very helpful and courteous. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would probably return when next in London.

We booked this for one night at fairly short notice through a Tripadvisor partner agency (getaroom.com). It seems to be a US site but we got a great deal including breakfast (excellent choice and served till 11.00 at weekends). Small grumble about 1 teabag in a pot for 2 people - but it's a Spanish hotel so maybe they don't realise that Brits like our tea strong. The hotel is well-located - a few minutes from Regents Park (a nice stroll on a beautiful day) and close to Great Portland Street and Regents Park tubes. It's in a quiet location. You could walk along Great Portland Street to Oxford Street in about 10-15 minutes. This is a big hotel, and the outside doesn't really do it justice. Once you step into the lobby (helpful doorman always present) it looks lovely - spacious and luxurious. Reception and check-in was good. We were offered an upgrade (for about £38 I think) to a superior room from our basic classic. We declined (we don't usually spend much time in the room except to sleep) but next time I think we might pay the extra. The width of our room was OK (and it was well-furnished and well-equipped) but the length was tight, and we had to squeeze past the end of the bed as it was close to the wall. The bath was titchy, and getting in and out of the over the bath shower was slightly tricky. Nice toiletries and towels, and a big cupboard in the bedroom for hanging space, suitcases, safe, tea tray and ironing board and iron. We came back from the theatre on the Saturday to a jazz trio playing in the bar - pleasant to listen to over a nightcap. We liked this hotel very much, and thought the staff were very well trained.

Room Tip: If you book a classic room it might be worth upgrading as they are on the small side.

Just returned from 2 night stay on arrival had warm greeting was booked in at club deck level separate reception ,room was very clean and average size for London toilet was showing signs of wear and tear but in such busy hotel you can expect that. We had fantastic breakfast again in lounge and during day access to lounge entitled you to soft drinks tea coffee cake fruit and pastry which where all to high standard . Evening allowed you to experience tapas and white or red wine champagne tea coffee soft drinks included in stay which was fantastic. When I travel I stay in club deck in Sheraton and the Melia surpasses it 100% staff were great nothing you asked was a problem I would recommend this hotel for value ,location 5 mins to regent st ,and service.

Room Tip: Book executive level

Dear Carol,

We are pleased to read that your stay with us was an enjoyable one and The Level room with complimentary access to The Level Lounge was very much appreciated.
Our suggestion for your next stay with us is to try one of our restaurants: The Place with open buffet with Mediterranean tastes and The Albufera for a la carte menu for a different experience.

We hope to welcome you again back to Melia White House soon!

We stayed in this hotel at the end of March for two nights for a weekend break. This was our first time visiting London and we were pleased with the location of the hotel. The Melia White House is located a ten minute walk from Euston Station and in a great spot for the underground -Three underground stations are a few minutes away. The west end, covent gardens and oxford street are also within walking distance.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived in London in the morning but could not check in until 3pm so the hotel offered for us to leave our luggage in their secure luggae room. This was a great service as we could then spend the day in London without carrying out bags and suitcase around all day. This service was also available on our last day too - Brilliant!

The breakfast was lovely, great variety of foods to choose from. Our room was very luxiourious, we were very impressed by the standard.

Thanks Melia White House for an excellent stay, we will definatly return :)

Stayed at this very large, now Spanish run hotel for the first time because it dropped into my £100 to £150 target range including breakfast.
A mix up at reception ( booking website's fault) led to a rapid unrequested upgrade to a very nice room.

Positives:- Nice, modern room with everything working. Excellent breakfast with good quality products, masses of choice and an omelette chef. Fairly convenient location with tube station 50 metres away, Regents Park nearby and West End just about walkable. Busy and vibrant, if you like that sort of thing.

Negatives:- Soulless bar with un-engaged staff. Oddly frenetic interior design to the lobby with lots of steps , pillars, angles and mirrored walls is strangely discomfiting. Busy traffic needs to be negotiated in order to get anywhere, again less relaxing than some competing hotels.

Room Tip: No room tip but food wise , Iberico restaurant just down great portland street has much better Spani...

Great value. Great location walkable to attractions, yet away from the hustle and bustle. Staff attentive and services top notch. We stayed here for a five day visit to London. Subway from Heathrow was a block away. Rooms on the small side, but efficient and well designed.
