“Great hotel, good location.”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We stayed here last weekend and although we weren't in the hotel for long, we had a good experience. When we checked in the receptionist asked if we'd stayed before, we said we hadn't. She then told us she would upgrade us from the classic room we had booked to a superior room. Great! It had a massive king size bed, which was very comfortable, with plenty of feather pillows. There was not too much noise from the street and the curtains were dark enough, although not quite as dark as I would have liked.
The bathroom was a good size, clean, well-stocked with the nik-naks you hope will be in there (like the toothbrush you forgot, etc), and the shower very good. My only niggle with the bathroom was the drop from the bath to the floor as you got out of the shower.
In the morning we found a sheet of paper pushed under our door to say they knew we hadn't used the mini-bar so we could do 'Speedy Check Out'; we just signed the paper and handed the keys and paper over to reception and left. Very handy.
All in all in was a very pleasant stay, a good quality hotel and great service. The only thing that stops me giving it 5 stars was the fact that the hotel was boiling!!! I was seriously sweating inside our room and despite the fact that the hotel website says there is air conditioning we couldn't find it in our room.
One other curiosity about the hotel, just for your information, is the lift. It took us a while to work it out (we went all the way up to the sixth floor and back before getting to our floor) - the buttons are outside the lift, there are none inside. You push the floor you want and a screen tells you which lift to get into (A,B,C or D), you get in the lift and it takes you there. Weird!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter.

Beautiful hotel - stayed in a classic twin room - very clean and comfortable. Got upgraded to the Level Lounge - free tea/coffee/nibbles/cakes/soft drinks/wine etc. all day/evening. Restaurant was a bit pricey but food was lovely. Staff very helpful. Tube station very near by, bus stop just around the corner. Within walking distance of Madame Tussauds. Consierge was particularly helpful.

The White House is a great location - a short walk to Regent's Park and the West End.
This was originally a stylish building, but the decoration is out of keeping with the facade and a bit faded. The rooms are small and bathroom facilities poor - we didn't try the food, but the bar what you would expect in a tourist hotel.
The check in is slow and service moderate, but if you just want a comfortable, central location, this is a good choice.
Just sad that the original architecture has been ignored with a glitzy - now shabby - interior!

A hotel in an excellent location for a city break. Three Tube Stations within a few minutes walk and very close to Mainline stations as well. Premier room was very well appointed and staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: Some traffic noise in the bedroom but not intrusive.

We have stayed in Melia White House 5 times.First time was in 2009 after a terrible experience in Earls Court. Second and third time was in 2011 with all the family [6 members] then with 8 family members they accomodated us perfectly. Then our final 2 visits were in April this year. We love this hotel not just for the fantastic location but also for the staff we find every time that they become more friendlier and customer focused. We would advise that if you pay that little bit extra the superior room is amazing. Location really is wonderful and Great Portland St train station is a 2 minute walk.

This hotel is in a great location to see London. Three tube stations are relatively close as is Regents Park which is a great park to walk in and get away from the craziness of the city. The hotel is clean and the beds are comfortable. Our room was small but still comfortable. Both the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet are superb. We were travelling with a tour group and the hotel staff was most accommodating.

We just stayed here last weekend with our 1 and 3 year old sons in a junior suite. This gave us access to their level lounge which was great. The staff there were very friendly and helpful with our children. There is also a kids club room at weekends in the morning that you can use. The location was good with a 2 minute walk to Great Portland st tube station. Really enjoyed the stay and hope to return.
