I recently dined in the Regent with two friends on a Sunday evening and I have to say the whole experience was awful. The pub itself is really nice, spacious and in a great location. I had been previously for drinks which were fine but would not recommend this as a place to dine. My friend had pre booked a table on the website, however on arrival the staff knew nothing of the booking. We ordered our dinner and waited an hour an a half to be served, only to send one of the meals (which was clearly burnt) back to the kitchen. The waitress did not seem bothered if we were happy or not, and her explanation was that they were receiving a lot of complaints that evening. We noticed other diners also sending food back, and couldn't help but notice the couple in the table next to us who left in disgust before their meals arrived. They too had been waiting a long time and were clearing not impressed at the quality of the food which was served at our table. It took some persuasion on my friend's part to get a discount on the bill after the meal, needless to say we will not be going back to dine here, as there are so many other great choices in Balham!
