Description: A friendly, romantic Italian restaurant in the lovely Knaphill , the Lorenzo is a favourite with discerning locals. Simply decorated with an unfussy interior made up of white painted walls, touches of exposed red brick and contemporary, comfortable dark wood furniture, Lorenzo has an authentic style that makes it feel as if it really could be in Bologna, Brindisi, Napoli or Palermo, an impression supported by the warm service from friendly, well informed and smartly turned out staff often of Italian descent. The Lorenzo menu is entirely populated by extremely authentic dishes from throughout Italy with seafood a particular specialty, delectable desserts done to perfection and excellent wines from top notch vineyards. Concise and carefully put together, the menu reflects the best of Italy, concentrating on creating flavours reminiscent of those very meals experienced during Adriatic holidays, Tuscan trips and city breaks in the country famed for its cuisine.

“Main course portions very small . Food below average.”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

We were crew melt disappointed wih the food at Capri. The main course I had with spaghetti and seafood was very good but very very small portion which would be suitable for a starter not a main course. My partner had the rabbit. He was presented with one small leg and the sauce was nothing other than to what tasted a can of tomatoes. One of the most disappointing restaurants I have been for a long time. The restaurant has great potential in terms of location and decor- very nicely done up and service was very good. Something needs to be done about the food...the portions need to be bigger and plates such as the rabbit should not be put on the menu as it is simply not up to scratch. Note it is quite pricey so overall value is poor. Shame they don t make pizzas anymore, at least those used to be ok...

“Great Italian in Wimbledon”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Called here early on a Wednesday evening for dinner. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. I have eaten here before but over 12 months ago. The standard is very good authentic Italian. Service is quirky but with a smile. The layout means that you can be close to other diners but not a problem unless you are discussing something illegal. I had calzone and companion had Margarita pizza. Both were excellent. Complimentary seaweed balls were served which were different but really tasty. A Tiramasu was tasted and was excellent. £42 for loads of excellent feed and a few bottles of beer and soft drinks. I would recommend this place for authentic good quality Italian food.

“Never Disappoints”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

The Wimbledon locals really enjoy and appreciate the first class treatment we get from owner/manager Lorenzo, who always greets us like family and serves individually prepared dishes with fresh ingredients and flair. The disappointing reviews from cash conscious Groupon customers is rude and distasteful, and this restaurant is clearly for patrons who appreciate value for money and high quality food, and who are aware that you get what you pay for. The food here is not mass market, frozen, or pre-packaged,so if Groupon customers want a better deal, just go to the high street chains.

“Ok Sort Of!”
Reviewed 24 March 2013

Slightly above average taverna but could do a lot better. Not much vegetarian choice on offer so it had to be spinach filled ravioli which was not too exciting. Friends complained their food lacked any garlic and the basic pizza was uninspiring. The lobster linguine was not anything special. Attentive service, but the decor is extraordinarily dull for an Italian eatery.
