I was looking for a nice place to stay near town and this fitted the bill. Better value than the Hoxton Hotel down the road! The owner greeted us and gave us a residents' parking permit for the grand sum of £4 (f£2 per two hours up until 6.30pm then free, and free on Sundays). This was a huge bonus! We parked in the next road. Our room was at the back (so nice and quiet). Very small but spotless and a lovely comfortable bed with nice linen. I slept like a log! Tea/coffee etc are available in the rooms. The shower/loo is pretty tight but it has all you need. Breakfast was fairly basic - toast, juice and cereal but they owners are very accommodating and provided dairy-free milk for me. Dalston Junction is a couple of minutes walk away providing easy access into the West End or down to the O2 Arena via London Overground. I was very impressed with the transport links. Dalston Eastern Curve Garden is just down the road and a nice place to stop for a cuppa. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: I had a room at the rear and it was very quite.

Hello!
We're glad you think we're better value than the Hoxton :) And I'm also pleased you found the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden just down the road. Thanks for staying with us!

Great little hotel in dalston, very small room(but they do have larger ones) with good en suite . Great for a short stay, and no noise if you select a room at the back. Did not eat breakfast there but it looked fine in passing Would not hesitate to rebook at a future date. Liked the non corporate /non chain aspect of this family run hotel.

This hotel is rather discretely tucked away amongst a facade of shops and restaurants but we were very glad we found it. The rooms are a tiny bit on the small side, but unless you're planning on spending your entire trip in your room it really doesn't matter. That's really the only minor fault we could find.

The rooms are modern and comfy with lots of added little extras, the staff are warm and welcoming, and being a 5 minute walk from Dalston Junction overground it's perfectly located for getting out and about easily.

All in all excellent value for money. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again!

Not quite as expected at first, but Avo was definitely worth the price. Friendly service within warm atmosphere in a quirky and upcoming area of London. The only pitfalls were the quality of the shower and finishing touches with the decoration. Overall a nice place to stay

When visiting family in Dalston we are stuck for somewhere to stay and have tried various hotels, but they are all quite a distance away. We chanced upon the Avo Hotel by walking past on our last trip and decided to try it out on our next visit. The hotel is perfectly located for us 5 minutes walk from our sons house.

Its a small family run hotel and the staff are very nice people. We had a reasonably comfortable stay in a double room with everything you need in a hotel, apart from space. The room we had was very small. I did read previous reviews where people mentioned the size of the rooms, but even so I was a bit surprised about the dimensions. With the bag rack out there was no space at one side of the bed. If you are happy in small spaces then the Avo maybe fine for you, but for me I don't really want to be climbing over my bags to get into bed.

The search continues for a hotel near Dalston.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for staying with us. I know you had a small room this time, but please do come back and stay in one of our (much) larger rooms if you can. Only 2 of our rooms are inexpensive doubles like you experienced, and the majority are bigger. Hope that helps to know,
Sunny
