Avo was recommended to me by James who runs the 'Luxury Inn' quite nearby! Just a one night stay to catch up with my son who lives between the two. Premier Inn nearby soooo much more expensive and this little boutique hotel was very good value for money. 'Little' being the operative word. A very neat transformation from dinky post office in a thriving and busy part of Dalston just 5 minutes from Dalston Junction Station to a simple, elegant but not impersonal boutique hotel. As a lone traveller I had a small but extremely comfortable room and excellent comfy bed with memory foam mattress - all absolutely adequate for my stay. Good shower, lovely toiletries, tea, coffee etc, hairdryer, massive telly. Only quibble would be the thin curtains, simply remedied by adding a plain blackout blind fitted within the window frame. Simply DIY breakfast, nice selection of goodies. I will stay again.,thanks for the relaxed welcome all of you.

Hello,
What a lovely review! We're so pleased that our friends at the local inn recommended us. We Dalstonites are a friendly bunch :)
My favourite part of our hotel rooms is our memory foam mattresses too, (but then I think sleep is very important!)
See you again,
Sunny

I always stay in small boutique hotels when traveling and even though the Avo Hotel was advertised as a boutique hotel, I venture to differ. It was more like a youth hostel. Very basic. The room was so small, there was no where to put anything. I tried to work on my computer, no place to work. No place for toiletries. The gourmet, organic breakfast they advertised was very basic. The neighbourhood not very convenient. There is only an overground. However, the service was friendly and it's a family run business.

Dear Francine,
Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback and we're sorry to have let you down. Some things we cannot help - especially the size of our smallest, most affordable rooms. Also, we know that Dalston is not to everyone's taste - but it does have hip credentials! We will look into more storage space in the bathrooms though, so thanks for that tip and we hope you visit again sometime.
All the best,
Sunny

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend on a w-end trip to London. I guess the hotel has ok rates for expensive London and we wanted to stay in Dalston which doesn't have that many hotel options available (yet..). The hotel or BnB is a converted town house with small rooms and narrow stairs. You can tell they have tried to make an effort with the decor although personally I didn't find it that inspiring..dark bathroom with plastic walls instead of tiles etc. The bed was very comfortable though and I had a good nights sleep. We had the top floor room which was okay although very small for 2 persons, we had a hard time finding a place for our luggage. The breakfast wasn't nice but there is an awesome breakfast place just down the road close to the overground. The hotel is nicely located, 5 min. walk from the overground station & there are some nice bars just down the road. Staff was polite & friendly.

Stopped at the Avo for recent business trip, instead of a 'big chain' hotel. The Avo worked out great, and would willingly return. Very comfortable room, helpful staff, breakfast was just how I like it. The location was perfect for my work in Dalston, though I would also use the Avo for other London locations, as Dalston has great transport connections. Very enjoyable stay, and good value.

We booked out the entire hotel over a bank holiday weekend for friends and family to stay in during our wedding. From start to finish we had a wonderful experience dealing with all the staff in this lovely hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished and well equipped with everything you need. All our guests had only positive things to say. A huge thank you to Nar and the team at this wonderful boutique hotel.

A great hotel! Loved the décor, too! Very friendly family run business. The room was very comfortable, although just a bit tiny walking around the bottom of the bed. Breakfast was fine, although, personally, we prefer a full English breakfast, but I did know it was continental when I booked. We would recommend this hotel to friends and family, and, we would definitely stay there again! Thank you!
