“Incredible hotel with great views”
Reviewed 24 February 2014 via mobile

Was meeting a friend in London for a night and booked a double room through a deals website, on arrival the place looks incredible and on reception the staff where friendly and help full. When checking in we where offered a free upgrade which we accepted. The room itself better than we could have hoped, the person I was staying with said the bed was slightly hard but I didn't notice myself. The bathroom was immaculate and beautiful with good views of tower bridge from the 8th floor. We didn't stay for breakfast unfortunately but passing the buffet in the morning it looked and smelled delicious. When checking out the reception was crowded but the concierge saw to us straight away.

Overall, 10/10 would recommend and use again.

We stayed here for one night on Thursday 20th Feb, it was a secret hotel deal and £109 for the night, no breakfast included.

We arrived by black cab and two doormen rushed us, or that is how it felt, we were barely out of the cab. I actually found this a little intimidating. My fiancé was in his work clothes as he was working in London and I meet him from work, his work clothes happen to be jeans, safety boots and he was carrying hard hat and fleece, the look of contempt he got was embarrassing for all concerned as was the way they held his fleece like it was soiled loo paper.

Checking in was smooth, however, I objected to handing over my ID to be photocopied and stored, I requested the copy back so that I could destroy it when we checked out.

Room was nice and functional, tea and coffee facilities in the cupboard (this will cause them problems later).

Toiletries in bathroom, shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower hat, moisturiser.

Bathroom very classy, black and white with gorgeous shower that has multi sprays over the body.

Bed very comfortable, duvet good quality.

Room a little chilly in the night.

We were in room 310, faced the Premier Inn opposite but no noise from street could be heard.

Bed turned down for us and chocolates on the pillow when we can back from our night out.

Close to Tower Hill Station and St Kathryn’s Dock.

Next door to Weather spoons which do a good pint and a breakfast at a far better rate than at the hotel.

Would I stay again, yes if it was on offer.

Big and busy hotel; staff willing but somewhat inexperienced I think. There are too many concierges; and they are a little two aggressive taking bags etc on arrival. Check-in was OK; our booking was hard to find on the system (maybe as we had booked through a 'secret London 5* hotel' deal) – but it turned up in the end and to our pleasant surprise our “room only” price did in fact include breakfast.

We had booked a “superior” room – but this is flim-flam: “superior” = “a standard room”. Not a bad room; large double bed (two twin beds joined); easy chair and sofa; desk. The WiFi is free, but the signal was patchy around the room. Not nearly enough storage – in fact very little storage at all. Flat screen large TV with a moderate selection of channels; plus various options provided to connect your PC/iPhone to the system; though I could not get the Bluetooth to work. Bring the right cable and you can connect your HDMI or VGA cable to the wall input panel. The bathroom is first rate - clean and still very new looking; offering a bath with shower and a separate shower.

When we got to breakfast we discovered it was continental only, but the selection is huge so it is no hardship. Fresh grapefruit available on request. Coffee is good. Very very busy at peak times, so there is a bit of jostling around the self service buffet areas. We brought a guest one morning and I reckon £15 for continental breakfast is OTT, but there you are: it was our choice.

The Spa facility is in the basement and the spa reception supply towels – large if you are swimming; small if using the gym – which is correct but rare in my experience: thank you Melinda! The pool is great – a full 25m long so you can actually do some proper swimming. The sauna is fine; the steam room actually too hot; the jacuzzi great. The gym is first class: lots of machines – Life-fitness I think mostly – and in good order (as is the joint pool/gym changing room).

Many thanks to the invisible staff who keep the hotel in such good order; cleaning was first class throughout.

All in all – a good experience, if the 5 stars is pushing it a bit, and I would come again.

Room Tip: 610 was quiet.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel using a deal from lastminute.com's Secret Hotels and were not disappointed. Evidently it's busy at weekends due to its proximity to the Tower of London, easy access into central London and price (far cheaper than other London 5* hotels).

On checking in, we were dealt with efficiently and were able to access our room early at about 1.30pm. The room was on the fourth floor and had a view of the "Cheese Grater" (Leadenhall Tower) and "Gherkin", which was pretty impressive. There was a sofa, which would have also been a sofabed, so actually quite a decent size for a London hotels. The bathroom had a separate show and had everything we needed.

Tea and coffee making facilities were basic and hidden in a cupboard above the minibar, but was perfectly adequate and had a good range of teas.

As our deal didn't include breakfast, we decided to make the most of other places in the area. There's plenty of choice around, so we weren't about to go hungry. In fairness to the hotel's prices for food, they were on a par with other hotels we've stayed in.

All in all, great value for money and we'd definitely stay again.

Normally when you stay in a hotel they swipe your credit card and that's it until you check out. Not here they just lock your mini bar until you go to the reception to pay. Totally embarrassing!!! This hotel is run by Amateurs. When paying hotel prices for drinks you would expect waitress service,Not here! It's like a mobile phone contract... Pay as you go!!! Never again

My husband and I stayed at this hotel. The check in process was fast. The room was lovely and spacious. We used room service several times and the service was quick, the food arrived lovely and hot. The restaurant downstairs was good however I thought there was more choice on the room service menu.

I used the swimming pool once and it was very busy but the water was cold. If I go again I will try out the gym. Tower of London only a few minutes stroll away. A great stay overall.

We booked this through secret deals on last minute.com. I will certainly be using that sight again.
