“Heliport hotel fails to fly.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013 via mobile

Booked a room through lastminute, not being familiar with this hotel previously.
The room was fairly small with a "delightful" view of a Halfords. Trying to get the entertainment system to work so we could play music was so fiendishly hard that we gave up and called the concierge. We were promised help; none came. Wi-FI was not free because of having booked through lastminute, not something I have ever come across in a 5* hotel before.
The bed was actually v comfortable and the bath/shower was adequate without being amazing.
Breakfast was disappointing for a hotel of this class and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table whilst being ignored by the staff.
The location of this hotel is particularly odd and I could not really recommend it unless you are arriving by helicopter.

“Outstanding Chinese Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013

The new Red Pocket Chinese restaurant at Verta Hotel is a great addition to the hotel and to Chinese cuisine in London. The ambience is very impressive with beautiful statues of Buddha. The menu is very comprehensive with many vegetarian selections. The best is the quality of food and endearing service.

“Attentive staff and nice ambient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2013

Stayed for 5 nights for meetings. The place was a bit far away from the central London, but the ambient of the hotel was superb. The staff, especially on the meeting floor and breakfast restaurant, was just so caring and willing to help proactively. For business meeting purpose, it was definitely a nice experience and can recommend to other users with the same objective.

Right next door was a heliport, another interesting sight to look at.

“Appalling food/service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2013

This is my 2nd attempt at a review since the first one was, for some unknown reason removed.

We were a group of classic car enthusiasts at an organised lunch on Sunday 20th January. It was snowing but the lunch still attracted around 40 people. We paid £40 a head to include a glass of Champagne and a buffet.

What a shambles. The buffet was worth no more than £15 a head at most. There were some basic salads as starters and a weak attempt at a main course -salmon and chicken wraps which had run out by the time we came to get our main course. Feeble response from the staff who said the main course would be replenished soon. All that appeared instead were some basic sandwiches and pasta (For £40?!). Service was mediocre and generally a very bad experience.

“Incompetent Restaurant”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2013

I was with a party of 40 people at lunch at the restaurant on Sunday. It was so bad, it wasn't even funny. Poor quality food, dreadfully overpriced, incompetent staff who couldn't care less, an inability to serve food in the correct order, a wine waiter who had no idea what wines were available, long waiting times. The view was good, but that was the only plus point about the whole experience. Dismal and an embarrassment. I woukld never, ever stay or visit the Verta again, and I'm pretty sure none of the other 39 people at the lunch would either.
