We stayed for one night in April 2014. While I have attended a conference at the ExCel Centre previously, this stay was during a vacation, and is written from that perspective.

Rooms: a pleasant surprise. Clean and just very well-organized. The room is furnished simply, with all the essentials; they say that you can take anything in the room - and they mean it. Even though the rooms are not that large in terms of square footage, they are set up in such a way that it _feels_ very spacious, and not cramped at all. The windows extend from wall to wall, resulting in a lot of daylight, and an almost panoramic view.

Service: only really checked in and checked out, but the front desk was friendly, courteous, and efficient during our limited encounters.

Location: attached to the ExCel Centre, so obviously an excellent location if you're attending a convention or conference there. Even if you're not, it's connected Prince Regent DLR station by a walkway and a very short walk. It's a short DLR ride to Stratford or Canning Town, at which point you can speed into the centre of London on the Jubilee line. Although it's not easy to pop in and out of the hotel throughout the day if you'll be in the centre of town, it's a reasonably easy and quick commute for any visitor.

Value: can be totally hit and miss - the room rate varies _dramatically_ depending if there is a convention going on during that time. If there is, the rate may be much higher, or rooms may not be available at all. If not, the rates are very reasonable, and can be one of the best value propositions in London.

Overall: certainly more than what we expected. It's a lovely hotel whose rooms make great use of space, and as a result feel more comfortable than they should. The service is very good, as is the location. What may end up determining whether or not you stay is whether you need to make use of the convention centre, and if not, whether the rates are a good value for the nights you want to stay.

Hello Iclaprim,
Thank you for your review. You are very right in saying that although we are not located in Central London, our amazing transport links make it easy breezy to go over to the city centre.
Thank you for your nice comments on our rooms - our Refresh team is really proud of our sassy style and they work hard to keep everything sparkling clean!
With smiles from the Docklands,

Booked here overnight when going to Wembley Stadium. The hotel was virtually empty. Rooms are clean, bright, beds are very comfortable. 42" TV in the room, large shower, iron, board and tea making facilities. The view was over the back of the hotel (they charge more for dock view) but that wasn't a problem for us.

On the downside, hotel is reached from Prince Regent DLR Station. The dockland light railway was closed for the weekend when we visited. They had locked the TFL ticket machines behind the steel gates, meaning we couldn't buy our day travelcard to get back to Kings Cross on the Saturday. We walked the short route to Canning Town (about 1.5 miles). I don't recall any warning from the hotel about that particular problem. Not an issue for us but could cause problems for the less mobile.

Staff on check-in desk were very helpful. Didn't eat here, didn't even see the restaurant, only really there for a few hours to grab some sleep. Would revisit if prices are competitive, as there are lots of hotels in this area.

Hi Moorbius,
Thanks for leaving your comments here. I am happy to see you enjoyed our sassy style and our lovely beds. A good night's sleep is essential, it's great to hear you were able to get a good rest.
We normally have notice boards with travel advice up in our Front Desk area. There should have been replacement buses from Prince Regent to Canning Town during the DLR maintenance work. Please accept my apologies for our lack of communicating this to you clearly.
We hope to see you back soon!

I booked this as I wanted a venue with car parking (£14 a day) and close by an underground station (Prince Regent DLR was 3 min walk).

Alas, the underground was replaced by a bus service that weekend, so not the hotels fault!

The swimming pool was very exclusive looking, but the lack of proper male/female changing rooms was a bit odd. The shared sex cubicles didn't even have a door lock!

The nearby www.yi-ban.com restaurant was very nice - set meal with 3 courses for £22. The nearby pub "The Fox" was ok, but I wouldn't recommend eating there - the place was heaving with East End drinkers and the menu looked like microwave fare. Prices for drinks was also expensive - a German beer + a cider = £9.95. London prices!

Door hinges need "quieter" as all teh doors on my floor (5) seemed to slam shut, which made for a disturbed sleep. I had a view of the railway, but the noise didn't come into the room.

The room needs to get rid of he cardboard cups and replace them with china ones!

The full English breakfast is a buffet and they have complimentary newspapers, which wa good. The breakfast was good quality - I had the full English. Coffee was also nice.

London City Airport is nearby and you can walk along the river and watch the planes take off and land, which was great.

Hello there,
Thank you for leaving your review here. It's great to see you enjoyed your time with us. We will definitely be looking in to the doors - I understand this disrupted your rest, which is not something we want to happen.
It seem you have seen a lot of the Docklands during your stay. Next time, do try out our Fede Restaurant for dinner as well, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
We hope to see you again soon!

A really comfortable enjoyable stay in a very modern hotel. Whilst ideal if visiting London Excel it's certainly not a Central London location but with easy access to this hotel from the DLR (Docklands Light Railway). The hotel room was very well laid out with a huge bed, with free access to safe/WIFI. A hot and cold Buffett style breakfast was included in the price and was very tasty with plenty to chose from. Whilst the hotel is a stones throw from London City Airport, I never once heard the aircraft taking off from my hotel room. Hotel staff very polite and friendly.

quick in and out during a recent visit to London

+ cheap in comparison
+ newly opened and hence the hotel is in good shape
+ functional rooms
+ good internet connection

- crowded check in area makes dealing with reception a pain during "rush hours"
- disappointing gym for Starwood standards
- although fairly central in London, completetly isolated location with nothing around other than the city airport

all in all, not a bad choice for the business traveller. would not hesitate to stay here again.

Hi 2013sas,
Thanks for your review! It's always good to know what our guests think. It's great to see you would be happy to return to us - it would be cool to see you again.
With regards to our Re:charge fitness centre, I would be interested to know what facilities you would have liked to see in addition to the current setup. This would really help us to look in to potential improvements.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Booked this as we were going to the O2. Very modern and very clean. Easy parking-extra cost but very reasonable-and easy to get to. Bed big and comfy, huge shower room. Easy access to DLR and the cable cars to the O2. Highly recommended and a great price.

Room Tip: High floor gives better view. River side view rooms will get some aircraft noise from the very close...

We stayed on Friday 16th May as we were attending the comedy Gala at the 02 Arena.

Pros
Really modern hotel, rooms are decent size and clean and this place oozes class for the price we paid (£85 including breakfast) we couldn't complain
- Easy access to tube service
- Decent swimming pool

Cons (Me being nit picky)
- Car parking is a bit more expensive than envisaged at £14 a night
- Bar was expensive (But I am midlands person and was astonished at £24 for 2 beers and 2 shots)
- Walking distance to emirates cable car wasn't as close as I thought (My fault)
- Nothing really close by walking distance apart from a pub next to the premierinn

Would I stay here again. Yes for the price I paid and factoring in the car parking charges.

Room Tip: Try and get one that overlooks the river

Hello BalUK,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It makes my day reading we exceeded your expectations! We are all about style at a steal here at Aloft and it's great to see you were able to enjoy that. The Emirates cable car is a 10-15 minute stroll along the riverside, or alternatively you can take the DLR for two stops and get dropped just two minutes away. It's a very cool way to get to the O2!
